Paju Unjeong café: a first-timer's financier ranking, Pound Coffee

Pound Coffee Unjeong Main Branch is a café and dessert shop facing a park on Waseoksunhwan-ro 192beon-gil in Paju, Gyeonggi. On a busy day the writer sat at a round table with a decaf Aussie Summer Latte and three financiers (small French almond-butter cakes): matcha streusel, hazelnut choco and salty choco. A companion trying financiers for the first time ranked salty choco No. 1. A regular since 2020–2021, the writer finds Pound Coffee still clean with ample parking and recommends it again as a Paju café.

Paju ssambap restaurant, tired weekend dinner with Dad: Simhaksan

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥) is a Korean set-meal ssambap (lettuce-wrap rice) restaurant on Dolgoji-gil in Paju, Gyeonggi, serving the Deul set (20,000 won) and the Flower set (26,000 won), which adds grilled fish. On a June weekend at 6 p.m., feeling completely worn out, the writer shared the Flower set with their dad: grilled Atka mackerel and mackerel, refillable gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste sauce) and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and a stone pot of rice per person made for a generous spread. With easy parking and a location near Paju Lotte Outlets, Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap delivers a satisfying, hearty meal, though the price isn't especially reasonable for groups.

Paju bakery open Sundays, rice cake salt bread 3+1: Boulangerie Tan

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a takeout bakery on Chorongkkot-ro in Unjeong, Paju, known as a brunch bakery with a wide range of sandwiches and salt breads. After Boulangerie Tan started opening on Sundays, a visit around 12:30 pm brought home a carrot rapée chicken sandwich, a salty chocolate financier, a glutinous rice cake salt bread, and pollock roe potato and gourmet butter salt breads. The baguette and fig cream cheese baguette were already sold out, so Boulangerie Tan is still a bakery worth visiting early.
