Sadang Korean bar for a wedding invitation dinner: Sadang Heonsang

Sadang Heonsang is a makgeolli-focused Korean dining bar on the 2nd floor near Exit 11 of Sadang Station (Line 4) in Seocho, Seoul. To celebrate an upcoming wedding, the blogger shared the 3-person Heonsang set with two friends on a weekend evening. Amberjack sashimi, bossam (boiled pork wraps), kimchi jjim (braised kimchi), namul sotbap (pot rice with seasoned greens), freshwater shrimp stew and a green onion pancake arrived one by one at a floor-to-ceiling window seat. The blogger rated the kimchi jjim the best dish of the Heonsang set and recommends Sadang Heonsang to anyone looking for an atmospheric spot for a get-together in Sadang.

Eel buffet in Siheung Baegot for wedding-prep stamina: Songnim Bok

Songnim Bok Jangeo Siheung Baegot Direct Branch is an all-you-can-eat charcoal-grilled freshwater eel restaurant on the ground floor of the Yuho Officetel in Baegot, Siheung. A couple worn out by wedding preparations and a sudden heat wave grilled eel, pork belly and duck neck over charcoal there for 32,900 won per adult (29,900 won plus a 3,000 won table fee), and even the writer, a seafood beginner, enjoyed the eel with no fishy smell or bones. Verdict: chilled domestic eel over charcoal at Songnim Bok Jangeo is a definite revisit.

Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, that has been open for more than 20 years and serves ramen, chirashi-don, sushi and tonkatsu. On a wedding-prep diet, the writer came at 5 p.m. on a weekend for the salmon and tuna scoop sushi set and Kumamoto-style ramen topped with black garlic oil (kuro mayu), and liked the fast service, light chashu and generous set. Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch is a good stop when you want a filling, good-value Japanese meal.
