Yongridan-gil tteokbokki restaurant, level-2 spice: Hyeonseonine

Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is an instant tteokbokki (jeukseok tteokbokki, spicy rice cakes simmered at your table) restaurant on Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Sinyongsan Station. After work, the writer and a friend ordered level 2 of the 3 spice levels and got a pan piled with jjolmyeon noodles, fish cake and 2 eggs, then added fritters and fried dumplings from the self-bar before finishing with fried rice pressed onto the pan. Even for a picky soupy-tteokbokki eater, Hyeonseonine was worth the trip.
