Abalone course meal in Namdong, Incheon: Jeonbokchon

In short

Jeonbokchon is a Korean restaurant in Namdong, Incheon, serving abalone set meals with several abalone dishes. After reserving, I ordered the two-person abalone set meal and worked through steamed abalone, scorched-rice soup, rice, and bulgogi. Jeonbokchon was a satisfying, healthy choice for a meal with parents.

The day I wanted an abalone course meal in Guwol-dong

My mom sometimes buys abalone when she says we should have something nourishing~ Grilled or steamed abalone at home is delicious too, but that day I wanted to try a range of abalone dishes in a slightly more special way, so I went to Jeonbokchon (전복촌) for an abalone course meal!

They also have lunch and dinner specials, so it is a place where you can eat with a little less pressure!

Reserved table and restaurant atmosphere

Since I made a reservation before visiting, the table was neatly set up.

I also looked around the restaurant, and overall it was quite tidy,

and the restroom was kept clean too~

There are private rooms as well, so I think they would be great for anyone wanting a quiet, private meal.

Jeonbokchon uses abalone from Wando, so as someone who loves abalone dishes, I was even more excited.

A full table of abalone set dishes

Not long after ordering, porridge, salad, and side dishes came out first~ I gently settled my stomach with the warm porridge, then picked at the salad and side dishes one by one while waiting for the mains! I liked that the abalone set meal let me enjoy abalone in several ways, so I could experience different flavors rather than eating only one dish~

A little later, the full spread finally arrived. Seeing all those abalone dishes covering the table was filling just to look at~

Steamed abalone with geu sauce

I started with the steamed abalone. It came with geu sauce made from abalone innards, and dipping the abalone generously into it added a rich, nutty flavor—it was delicious~ I also lightly dipped some of the other side dishes in the sauce here and there, and it unexpectedly went really well with them~!

Steamed abalone with geu sauce

The abalone tossed in yuzu sauce had a fragrant, refreshing feel, so it tasted quite different from the steamed abalone I had first~

The seasoned abalone innards were less fishy than I expected, so I ate quite a lot of them~ It seemed like the innards had been blanched once, which may be why they were easy to eat! And raw abalone could not be left out! Two pieces came out nicely, so we shared one each, haha. Its chewy texture was still there, letting me taste the distinct flavor of raw abalone as it is!

Warm scorched-rice soup served midway

As I worked through the different abalone dishes, scorched-rice soup came out too~ A spoonful of the hot soup felt like it soothed my stomach midway through~ Since the abalone dishes kept coming, having something warm and comforting in the middle was nice too! I loved being able to eat abalone in so many ways without getting tired of one flavor, while continuing to try new dishes.

Finishing the meal with rice and bulgogi

Around the time we had nearly finished the main dishes, they prepared the meal course. Seaweed soup, warm rice, and side dishes came together, so it felt like a proper meal.

I saved a little bulgogi and ate it with the rice, and of course it was delicious with rice too~ After eating my fill of abalone dishes and then rice, I was really satisfyingly full! But rather than feeling greasy or heavy, it felt like I had eaten something healthy, which made me happy~!

An abalone meal that is good with parents

Unlike the abalone I usually eat at home, it was nice to taste several abalone dishes at once, including raw abalone, steamed abalone, and seasoned abalone innards~ It seemed like a solid place to visit when you are looking for somewhere to eat with your parents, or on a day when you want neat, healthy food!

There are private rooms too, so I think it would be good for a family meal or when you want to eat while chatting more comfortably~ They have lunch and dinner specials as well, so it is helpful that you can choose a menu according to the occasion! Above all, for anyone who loves abalone, I think the biggest appeal is being able to enjoy it in so many different dishes. I ate so well that day—healthy and delicious. After nourishing yourself with good food, somehow the whole day feels reassuringly full~ Next time I want a variety of abalone dishes, I will have to come back!
