In short
Deok Ori Jumulleok is a duck restaurant on Manisan-ro in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa, Incheon. We enjoyed fire-kissed seasoned duck with vegetable wraps, paper-thin potato pancakes, and fried rice made in the leftover sauce before heading to Jeondeungsa Temple. A memorable meal for a Ganghwa trip
When you head to Ganghwa for a drive or a trip, you start wondering where to eat. Ganghwa has all sorts of foods, including kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), jeotguk galbi (pork ribs simmered in salted-seafood broth), and bandengi fish, but if you love meat, duck jumulleok is a great choice too.
The place I am introducing this time is Deok Ori Jumulleok on Manisan-ro in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon. It has long been known to people looking for duck jumulleok in Ganghwa, and Incheon Tour also introduces it as a nearby restaurant.
In particular, it was featured on the Ganghwa-gun Culture and Tourism website under the name “Ganghwa Gilsang Deok Ori Jumulleok,” making it a very nice restaurant to stop by during a Ganghwa trip.

The taste of fire-kissed duck jumulleok
When talking about Deok Ori Jumulleok, the fire aroma is something you cannot leave out.
Because the meat takes on that fire aroma during the pre-grilling process, you can finish cooking the duck at your table and enjoy it hot. The distinctive scent of briquette charcoal goes beautifully with the duck.
If the seasoning is too strong, it can cover up the duck's own flavor, but one of this place's features is its comparatively mild seasoning. If you like intensely sweet and salty sauces, it may taste a little clean and restrained.

How to enjoy duck with vegetables
As the duck starts cooking on the grill, the aroma rising from the sauce and meat gets your appetite going.
Duck has a nutty richness that is a little different from ordinary pork or beef. Add the seasoning and vegetables such as green onion and perilla leaves, and you can enjoy varied textures while cutting through the richness.
In particular, putting duck and vegetables in a lettuce ssam (wrap) brings the duck's nutty flavor and the fresh vegetables together so well.
All the banchan (side dishes) and wrap vegetables served with the duck jumulleok were so good.

It is a potato pancake, and its thinness is practically an art form.

When should you ask for fried rice?
After you have eaten some of the duck jumulleok, there is one final menu item that comes to mind: fried rice.
When rice is stir-fried in the leftover sauce and the oil rendered from the duck, the duck flavor naturally seeps into the rice. Add seaweed or vegetables, and it gives you a different taste from eating the meat alone.
If you want fried rice, it is best to ask when about one-third of the dish remains.
If it is your first visit, rather than having only duck jumulleok, it is also a good idea to consider your appetite and enjoy fried rice too.

A Ganghwa driving route to pair with Jeondeungsa Temple
Deok Ori Jumulleok is on Manisan-ro in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa-gun. This area is great for visiting nearby attractions such as Manisan Mountain and Jeondeungsa Temple while traveling around Ganghwa. With places such as Jeondeungsa Temple and Ganghwa Samnangseong Fortress introduced around Deok Ori Jumulleok, it is easy to plan a meal and sightseeing together. We headed straight to Jeondeungsa Temple after lunch.
Ganghwa is especially suited to trips by car that take in several attractions, so you could visit sights in the morning or afternoon and finish with a duck jumulleok meal.
It is a fitting meal for a family outing, or when you have gone for a Ganghwa drive with friends and want a generous meat dish.

If you are looking for duck jumulleok in Ganghwa
A Ganghwa trip is more satisfying when you enjoy delicious local food as well as simply visiting attractions.
Deok Ori Jumulleok seasons duck and gives it a fire aroma during pre-grilling, making it a good place to enjoy duck and vegetables together before finishing the meal with fried rice.
Above all, it is easy to add to an itinerary around Manisan Mountain and Jeondeungsa Temple. If you are looking for a different meat dish in Ganghwa, duck jumulleok is worth choosing instead of samgyeopsal (pork belly) or chicken dishes.
Especially if you want to properly enjoy duck with a lively fire aroma, spicy seasoning, and fried rice at the end, Deok Ori Jumulleok is a Ganghwa restaurant worth remembering.

This was the lovely autumn view from the Deok Ori Jumulleok parking lot.
