Went on a date in Hongdae and stopped by Raymond's Hongdae, a place that sells American-style slice pizza. Pizzas come out slice by slice, so you can pick a bunch of different flavors instead of ordering one whole pie. They only make 20 pies on weekdays and 30 on weekends, so I'd been curious about this Hongdae pizza pub for a while!
Raymond's Hongdae

Inside Raymond's Hongdae: an American pizza pub in Seoul
American vibes straight from the exterior. Even the sign and color combo felt totally different from your usual pizza place.

Inside, it's decked out in vintage colors like an American pizza pub. Smack in the middle of Hongdae but it felt like a quick trip abroad haha. The vibe suited a casual pizza date really well.

How do you order pizza by the slice at Raymond's Hongdae?
At the counter of Raymond's Hongdae, whole pizzas are displayed pie by pie. You pick the flavor you want and order it as a big slice! No need to order a whole pie of one kind, so we each picked a flavor we were curious about. If you've been searching for pizza restaurants in Hongdae and wanted to try a little of several kinds, this system is great.

There's a separate seating area inside for waiting. Seems like the spot to sit if it's crowded on weekends or peak hours!

Raymond's isn't just serious about pizza — they take craft beer pretty seriously too. They only sell World Champion craft beer, and the lineup apparently rotates regularly. So apparently a lot of people search for beer spots in Hongdae and come here for pizza and beer together!

What we ordered at Raymond's Hongdae and what it cost
There were way more pizza flavors than I expected, so we took a while deciding. We ordered Spicy Fusilli Pizza for ₩8,900, Berry-ble Streusel Pizza for ₩8,900, Bacon Hawaiian Pizza for ₩7,900, Mac and Cheese Pizza for ₩8,500, and Truffle Fries for ₩9,900.

There were even medals on display in the store. Raymond's serves Art Monster craft beer, and apparently some of their beers have won international awards. Since you can enjoy pizza and craft beer together here, keep this in mind if you're looking for good beer in Hongdae!

Water, hot sauce, and disposable gloves are set out at the self bar. The slices are so big that wearing the gloves and eating with my hands was the easiest way haha.

You order at the kiosk. They also sell gourmet chicken alongside the pizza, so if you're after good fried chicken in Hongdae, you could order that together with pizza.

Spicy Fusilli Pizza, 8,900 won
The Spicy Fusilli Pizza I was most curious about. Having fusilli pasta piled on top of a pizza is unusual to begin with haha. It's a bit spicy, and you can really taste that chewy fusilli texture. I already love fusilli, so this was one of my favorites out of the four!

Up close you can see the fusilli piled on thick like a topping. It feels like eating pizza and pasta at once, but the combo actually worked really well.

Berry-ble Streusel Pizza, 8,900 won
Even more surprising was the Berry-ble Streusel Pizza. Streusel crumb is piled on top of blueberry jam. It tastes less like a savory pizza and more like a sweet dessert pizza!

There's a generous amount of blueberry jam, and the streusel on top has a nice crunch. It's clearly sweet, so switching back and forth with the other pizzas made it taste even better.

Bacon Hawaiian Pizza, 7,900 won
I also ordered a Hawaiian, which I love. This pizza has bacon and pineapple with 100% natural mozzarella. The pineapple is sweet, the bacon is salty — a proper sweet-and-salty combo 🍍

The pineapple chunks are big, and eating them together with the bacon and cheese is delicious. As someone who loves Hawaiian pizza, this one can't miss haha.

Mac and Cheese Pizza, 8,500 won
The Mac and Cheese Pizza is topped with macaroni and rosé cream sauce. The toppings are so generous that just one slice is pretty filling.

There's rosé cream sauce and cheese packed between the macaroni. It's rich and thick, and this was the one that felt most like an American-style pizza.

All four slices side by side
Lined up together, all four slices look completely different in color. From fusilli to blueberry streusel, Hawaiian, and mac and cheese. It's a fun lineup if you want to try pizzas with a bit of a twist rather than plain toppings. These are big American-style slices, so we ended up plenty full on our Hongdae pizza date.

Truffle fries on the side. We took bites of fries in between pizza slices. The truffle aroma gave them way more flavor than regular fries.

This time we mostly focused on pizza, but since they also have fried chicken on the menu, a group could order pizza and chicken together for a pretty filling meal. With the American pizza pub vibe and world-class craft beer on offer too, it's also a great fit if you're looking for good beer in Hongdae. From fried chicken to big slice pizza, Raymond's Hongdae let us enjoy the full American pizza pub experience 🤍
