Donpu The Grill (돈푸더그릴) is a pre-grilled meat restaurant in the Janggi-dong eating street in Gimpo, near Janggi Station. It is open daily from 11:00 to 23:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 22:00. It is closed every Tuesday.

I was hunting for a good spot in the Janggi-dong eating street and ended up at Donpu The Grill, near Janggi Station.

Parking: Janggi 3 public lot

Since this is a BBQ place inside the eating street, there is no private parking lot, but I could park at the nearby Janggi 3 public parking lot and others.

The first hour was free, and after that the fee is very cheap since it's a public lot, so parking was no burden at all.

Atmosphere at weekday dinner peak

True to its reputation as a Janggi-dong pork belly spot, it was full even on a weekday during the evening peak.

The place is very clean and has large group tables too, so it's a good pick for family gatherings and also company dinners if you're looking for a Janggi-dong place that does pork belly well.

Donpu The Grill menu and Hanwoo-grade Pork Couple Set price

They use Grade 1 Hanwoo pork, aged and then pre-grilled (chobeol) before it reaches your table.

The single-item pre-grilled cuts are good, but the sets are well put together, so for two people I ordered the Hanwoo-grade Pork Couple Set.

The couple set is the signature pork belly and pork neck, 500g in total, which was a hearty amount for two. The price of ₩48,900 felt reasonable too.

There's also the Signature Set, the Octopus Set with octopus, and the Donpu Family Set, which is generous enough for a family, so pick whichever suits your taste.

Side dishes and sauces

Donpu The Grill is especially known for a generous table spread, and the basic side dishes were as lavish as the rumors said.

The assorted special sauces come with individual spoons so you can scoop them onto your own small plate, which felt more hygienic.

Even cold bossam (boiled pork slices) and a pudding-like steamed egg came out as basic sides, which made the table feel even more generous.

₩9,900 stone-pot kimchi stew rice comes as standard

And what really surprised me was the stew rice.

The stone-pot kimchi stew rice, which is a ₩9,900 side menu, came out by default!

You don't have to order a side separately, so it felt like even better value.

Pre-grilled pork neck and pork belly, grilled for you

At Donpu The Grill, the thick pork neck and pork belly are pre-grilled like this, so the grilling time isn't long, which I liked, and the staff grilled some of it for us too.

It's a good place to stop by if you're looking for a Janggi-dong BBQ restaurant where the meat is grilled for you, for company dinners or family gatherings.

The thick pre-grilled meat was grilled for us by the staff, while the cut that looks like bone-in pork belly we grilled ourselves. It was thin, so it cooked quickly and was easy to grill.

And they grilled the meat so appetizingly, I mean look at it!

How did it taste?

I tried the pork belly with just salt, and the natural meaty aroma that pre-grilling gives was so good.

The pork neck was delicious wrapped in lettuce, and also dipped in the special sauces.

Personally, I liked sauces like the mayo sauce and the one that tasted like tonkatsu sauce.

That's my review of Donpu The Grill, a Janggi-dong place that does pork belly well.
