Weekend sushi dinner in Songdo: 20-min wait & ankimo, Sushi Doku
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, Incheon, connected to Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets. On a weekend evening right after break time, 6 groups were already waiting, so the wait was about 20 minutes; the order was 2 premium sushi sets (25,900 won each), a kids' set (9,900 won) and omija (schisandra) tea, and the ankimo (monkfish liver) and eel stood out most. With fresh sushi, a generous set menu, wasabi-free ordering and a kids' set, Sushi Doku The Songdo is a good sushi stop with children after outlet shopping.

I stopped by Sushi Doku The Songdo, a place famous for tasty sushi near Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets. It's so popular that there was a wait even though I arrived right as break time ended. From the generous sushi set to the ankimo and eel I keep thinking about, here's my review of this Songdo restaurant in Incheon :)
Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo?
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, 157 Songdogukje-daero, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It connects to Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets by a walkway on B1, so it's easy to visit after shopping.
By public transit, it's a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Tekeunopakeu Station, so access is pretty good.
How long was the weekend evening wait?

I went on a weekend evening, timed for the end of break time (15:00–17:00), and there were still 6 groups ahead of me. I got in after about a 20-minute wait. Lots of families were there.

Inside it has a tidy Japanese restaurant feel, good for a family meal or a quiet conversation. It also struck me as a great Songdo spot for a meal after shopping at the outlets : )
What did I order? The premium sushi set and prices
- Premium sushi set ₩25,900 x 2 (10 pieces of sushi, mini udon, salad, chawanmushi, shrimp tempura, karaage)
- Kids' set ₩9,900
- Schisandra tea (omija-cha) ₩2,000

The premium sushi set, the signature menu here, comes with 10 pieces of sushi plus mini udon, salad, chawanmushi, shrimp tempura and karaage. You get more than just sushi, so it's a very satisfying lineup.

Best of all, every piece of sushi can be ordered without wasabi, and there's a separate kids' set, so it was great for visiting with a child.
How did the 10-piece premium sushi set taste?

The first thing that caught my eye was the neatly arranged 10 pieces of sushi.

The sushi in the set includes flounder, sea bream, salmon, tuna, eel and more, so picking through them was fun. The fish was fresh overall, and the rice portion wasn't excessive, so you could enjoy the taste of the fish itself.

The most memorable: ankimo and eel
What impressed me most at Sushi Doku The Songdo were the ankimo (monkfish liver) and the eel. The ankimo kept its rich, creamy flavor while melting softly in the mouth, which was lovely. I like ankimo, so this was a very satisfying item.

The eel was thick yet moist, with a nice soft texture.

Overall, every piece of sushi dissolved in my mouth, with a subtle sweetness and nuttiness added. It was the sushi I thought of first afterward.
How were the truffle chawanmushi, mini udon and tempura?

The truffle chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) that came with the set had a soft texture and a subtle truffle aroma, a nice appetizer to get things going before the meal.

The mini udon had a clean-tasting broth that was good to sip between bites, and the shrimp tempura and karaage came out crispy, making the set even more generous.

Is it okay with kids? The ₩9,900 kids' set
The kids' set (₩9,900) at Sushi Doku The Songdo was satisfying too. It came with kid-friendly items like egg, shrimp, yubu-chobap (sushi in sweet fried tofu pouches), tonkatsu and tempura, and my child ate the wasabi-free sushi without any fuss, so I thought it would work well as a family outing.

The schisandra tea (omija-cha, ₩2,000) was sweet and sour and cleansed my palate while eating sushi, a satisfying finish. With fresh sushi and a generous set lineup, I recommend it as a Songdo, Incheon restaurant :)
Verdict: a Songdo sushi restaurant worth returning to
It had been a while since my last visit to Sushi Doku The Songdo, but the meal was as satisfying as ever. A big plus is the connection to Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets, so you can drop by easily after shopping.

The fresh sushi, the generous set lineup and the kid-friendly options all satisfied me. If you want a good meal after shopping at Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlets, I'd happily go back and recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo :)
