After work I went looking for a nice date-night spot in Magok and ended up at Okso Ban Magok Main Branch (옥소반 마곡본점). It's close to Magongnaru Station, and I'd heard its clean interior makes it popular for dates and family meals, so I went in with high hopes.
Where is Okso Ban Magok Main Branch, and what about parking?
Okso Ban is near Magongnaru Station, so it's easy to reach by public transport, and there's parking too if you're driving~~ It gets crowded in the evening and you may have to wait, so keep that in mind~~~

What's the atmosphere like at Okso Ban? Good for a date?
It felt clean and a bit upscale from the entrance. The tables are spaced widely, so talking was easy, and the whole place was quiet, which made it a satisfying date spot.

What we ordered at Okso Ban: sukiyaki

This time we ordered the sukiyaki (Japanese-style hot pot of thinly sliced beef and vegetables simmered in a sweet-savory broth).

The sukiyaki came with a generous spread of fresh vegetables and meat, and the broth was clean, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The freshness of the meat especially stood out.
How do you eat Okso Ban's sukiyaki for the best flavor?

We put the vegetables in first to let the broth develop its flavor, then cooked the meat. It was light yet deep, which I loved. Dipping it in the sauce brought out even more flavor, and the final course was satisfying too.
A spot I'd recommend for anyone looking for a date place, or a dinner out in Magok in general!

The mushrooms and tofu soaked up plenty of broth and were great together, and I never got tired of it right to the end. The sukiyaki's savory umami really comes through, so if you like shabu-shabu, this one will satisfy you!
Sukiyaki finish: udon or kimchi fried rice?

For the closing course you can choose udon (thick wheat noodles) or kimchi fried rice, and this time I went with the udon~~ No regrets at all.

And the omija tea (five-flavor berry tea) at the end made it perfect!
