Samgyeopsal with DIY gochujang sauce in Bangi-dong: Hongkyojip Jamsil
Hongkyojip Jamsil is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant inside the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, where staff grill the meat at your table. The order was myeongpum ogyeopsal (premium five-layer pork belly) and tongdaepa galmaegisal (pork skirt with whole scallion), plus gyeranjjim (steamed egg) and chadol doenjang sulbap (rice with thin-sliced beef in soybean paste soup), all dipped generously in the restaurant's yukjang sauce of gochujang and fruit for a DIY gochujang samgyeopsal. Skipping the outdoor terrace for an indoor table at Hongkyojip Jamsil was the right call, because the tableside grilling is where the meat is at its best.
