Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch (삼삼밀면 본점) is a milmyeon (wheat cold noodle) restaurant with 25 years of history in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, near Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal. After a freediving class, the writer arrived around 3:30pm and ordered large mul milmyeon and bibim milmyeon (10,000 won each) plus dumplings (6,000 won). Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch was full even at that in-between hour. With its spicy-sweet sauce and chewy dumplings, Samsam Milmyeon is a noodle shop worth coming back to every summer.

Yaeum-dong, Ulsan shabu buffet at 11am weekday opening: Shabre Garden

Shabre Garden Ulsan Nam-gu Branch is a shabu-shabu and sushi buffet on Suam-ro in Yaeum-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. Two adults arrived at weekday opening time for lunch at ₩24,900 per person and ate shabu-shabu, sushi, the salad bar, patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans) and affogato. There was no wait, but Shabre Garden filled up quickly, and the ground-level lot right next to the building proved the better parking choice. Shabre Garden's food quality is high for a buffet, making it a solid pick for family meals and group gatherings.

Ulsan Korean BBQ brunch in Dal-dong: scallion kimchi bar at Daewol

Daewol Charcoal Barbecue (대월숯불고기) is a newly opened charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, that serves only Jirye black pork from Gimcheon. Around opening time on a weekday, the writer had a 500g Jirye black pork platter (55,000 won) as brunch and especially liked the chewy, odor-free five-layer pork belly and the many side dishes, including scallion kimchi and cold boiled pork. Daewol Charcoal Barbecue has no grilling service, but for the portion and meat quality it is a good-value BBQ spot in Dal-dong.
