In short

Vinovine is a French- and Italian-based course dining restaurant and wine bar in Seocho-dong, Seoul, near Exit 4 of Seocho Station. The writer, who can't drink, celebrated at Vinovine with the 65,000-won seven-course dinner, which includes a hanwoo (Korean beef) sirloin steak, in a private room, since ordering alcohol isn't required, and named the slow-cooked shrimp with bisque sauce the best dish. I had something to celebrate and was looking for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere, when I found Vinovine, a French- and Italian-style course restaurant in Seocho with amazing value. The dinner course has a whopping 7 dishes, and the price is great. In Seocho, where land is so expensive, a price this generous? I had to go! Shall we go feast together~~

Can you go to Vinovine if you don't drink?

Vinovine is a wine bar that serves course meals, but you don't have to order alcohol. As the name suggests it's a wine bar, so I liked that ordering alcohol isn't required. I have a very low alcohol tolerance, so I can't go to places that make you order a drink, haha.

Private room at Vinovine

All private rooms for a private atmosphere

Vinovine, a Seocho course-dining favorite, has only private rooms, and I loved being able to eat in privacy.

I booked ahead, so the table was already set like this~ The wall interior that looks like cork stoppers is unique.

How much is the Vinovine dinner course, and what's in it?

The Vinovine dinner course has a full 7 courses, includes Korean beef (hanwoo) steak, and costs a great-value ₩65,000. Wine pairing is an extra ₩35,000 per person! As I ate through the course, I thought it would go really well with wine.

Here are the extra dishes and drinks.

They had a big wine list too, but I only photographed the first page, haha.

Appetizer: scallop and egg mousse

So, shall we start the course~~ The appetizers were a scallop dish and an egg mousse. The scallop came in many layers, with purée, parsnip, scallop, foam and more, so there were lots of different flavors, which was fascinating. The egg mousse came with apricot jam and truffle mushrooms, and the taste was unusual. A flavor I'd never had before!

Chodang corn soup and fried baby corn

Next was chodang corn (a sweet Korean corn variety) soup with fried baby corn! It was topped with chorizo oil, bangah leaves (Korean mint), fried corn silk, asparagus and more. Doesn't it look so pretty? Even before eating, just looking at it put me in a good mood. The sweet corn soup and the fried corn went together so well.

My favorite: slow-cooked shrimp with bisque sauce

Next was a slow-cooked shrimp dish: bisque sauce made from the shells and heads was poured over a purée, and fried banana leaf and cherry tomato leaf were placed on top. Maybe it's because I love shrimp so much, but this was my favorite dish. The shrimp was moist and the rich bisque sauce went with it perfectly.

If you scoop up all the elements in one spoonful like this, you get the full, deep flavor of the shrimp.

Jeju white tilefish

Next was a dish made with white tilefish (okdom) from Jeju. It came with grilled basil, Daejeo tomatoes and sautéed zucchini, and the fresh taste of the Daejeo tomato was the kicker. The tilefish was grilled really well too, with the scales kept on so it was crispy outside and moist inside.

Tomato meatball pasta

Tomato meatball pasta came out right when things were getting a little rich! The fresh tomato flavor was good. I think the timing of the tomato pasta was especially great. It refreshed my palate!

Hanwoo sirloin steak with black garlic sauce

Next was Korean beef sirloin steak with black garlic sauce~ I never imagined a hanwoo steak would come out at this price. Boss, you're really giving it all away, but you still make a profit, right? Haha. Need I even say anything about hanwoo? As expected, it melted in my mouth.

Dessert: hojicha ice cream and warabi mochi

Finally, the highlight of the meal: dessert! Maybe because I love dessert so much, the dessert that wraps up a meal is what I look forward to most. The dessert was hojicha (roasted green tea) ice cream and warabi mochi (a soft jelly-like rice cake), and they told us to put it on a wafer shell and eat it like a bungeo-ssamanco (a fish-shaped ice cream sandwich). The slightly bitter hojicha ice cream finished the meal cleanly, and I enjoyed it so much.

Is the ₩65,000 course enough food?

The Vinovine 7-course dinner isn't small on portions, and I got quite full. Because it's such good value, I thought before eating that it wouldn't be enough, but with a whole 7 courses and portions that aren't tiny at all, I was wrong. Doesn't this make it a certified Seocho favorite?? When you want an anniversary or a date with atmosphere, I highly recommend Vinovine, a great-value course dining restaurant!!
