Sillim Station Korean restaurant with handmade sundae to go: Sinjuokmi

Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch (신주옥미 신림역점) is a 24-hour sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant in an alley behind Exit 5 of Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On a rainy day, two people ordered the special spicy mustard-leaf sundaeguk and the special spicy mixed offal gukbap (11,000 won each), a suyuk (boiled pork) set add-on for 3,800 won and a half plate of handmade mixed sundae for 11,000 won, then packed the leftover sundae and reheated it for dinner the next day. With handmade sundae packed with blood and generous portions, one bowl per person at Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch is already a filling meal.

Prepers Diet Food Sillim Main Branch is a salad and diet-food restaurant right outside Exit 3 of Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul, now remodeled across two floors with more seating. A regular since the opening day, the writer returned after the renovation for a combo of beef wasabi rice bowl (13,900 won) and pork salad pasta (10,900 won), and was happy with the wasabi sauce served on the side and the generous portion of meat. Prepers Sillim Main Branch is an easy salad restaurant in Sillim for both solo meals and group dining.

Sangsu noodle restaurant for rich tantanmen broth: Surim Sikdang

Surim Sikdang Hongdae is a tantanmen and Chinese noodle restaurant on Wausan-ro 21-gil in Mapo, Seoul, between Hongik Univ. Station and Sangsu Station. For dinner with a younger sibling, the writer ordered tantanmen and mixed tantanmen (10,000 won each) plus 10 eggplant mandu (dumplings, 15,000 won); the tantanmen broth was rich, and the eggplant mandu were crispy outside and juicy inside, so even the sibling who dislikes eggplant enjoyed them. Leave room in your stomach so you can add rice to the rich tantanmen broth at Surim Sikdang Hongdae.

Sillim Station pizza and half-price draft Budweiser: Pug Pizza House

Pug Pizza House Sillim Branch is a large three-floor handmade pizza restaurant next to Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul, with a dog-friendly pet zone on the 3rd floor. The writer ordered a Budweiser 500 draft during a half-price draft beer event, plus a half-and-half pizza and pasta set: M 9-inch Amazing Shrimp + Crazy Sweet Potato, a whole cheese milk edge, mushroom spicy cream pasta and salad. The portions were big enough that leftovers went home in self-bar containers. Pug Pizza House is a good pick near Sillim Station for pizza, beer and pasta together.
