Ewha Vietnamese restaurant with bun cha noodle refills: Kkua Ewha

My husband and I were craving Vietnamese food, so I looked up good pho spots near Ewha and found Kkua Ewha — the place looked clean and the food looked delicious, so we went! Let me share the vibe, an honest food review, and what to order~!

Where is Kkua Ewha, and what is the restaurant like?

Kkua Ewha is a Vietnamese restaurant on the 2nd floor at 42 Ewhayeodae-gil, Seodaemun-gu, near Ewha's main gate. The entrance had that Vietnamese feel that caught my eye right away, and it looked like an easy spot for students to drop by! Once inside, the place was cleaner than I expected.

The interior felt like a big, clean restaurant you'd actually find in Vietnam!

Solo dining near Ewha: the single-person tables at Kkua Ewha

And there's a separate single-person table right in the middle.

There are moments when I'm out alone and going into a restaurant to eat by myself feels a bit awkward, but grabbing just bread at a café isn't enough to fill me up either, haha. This kind of setup is perfect for that. It looks like a totally natural spot to sit alone and have a bowl of pho, so I'm keeping this in mind for the next time I need to eat solo near Ewha!!

Kkua Ewha menu and what two people should order

This is what the Kkua Ewha menu looks like. There were especially so many types of pho that it was hard to decide. My husband and I picked cha dot yangji beef brisket pho, bun cha, and nem! Pho alone felt like something was missing, so we ordered bun cha and nem along with it, hahaha.

Nem (fried Vietnamese spring rolls)

We ordered nem (Vietnamese spring rolls) as an appetizer/side. I wasn't expecting much, but they were packed with generous shrimp inside and turned out delicious!!

Since it was just the two of us and we ordered three dishes like this, we could go back and forth between the pho, the bun cha, and share a nem in between — great for mixing up multiple dishes together.

Brisket rice noodle soup: how rich is the broth?

The cha dot yangji beef brisket pho at Kkua Ewha leans toward the richer side of broth. I tried the pho first, and the broth was genuinely delicious. I tend to care a lot about broth flavor when I eat pho,

and here the broth was deep and rich, the kind you keep spooning up.

It's great with the noodles too, but honestly I kept going back to just the broth in between, haha. If you're looking for pho near Ewha Station with a rich broth, I think this will be right up your alley.

Plus, you can get one free refill each of noodles and broth, so if you finish the first serving and still want more, you can add a bit extra.

It basically felt like eating two bowls for the price of one, so the value felt pretty good.

Bun cha with free noodle and sauce refills

My actual top pick at Kkua Ewha wasn't the pho — it was the bun cha. I actually liked the bun cha more, haha.

I said the pho broth was delicious, but my real top pick was the bun cha.

Dipping the bun cha noodles into the fish sauce was genuinely amazing, haha.

You dip the noodles generously into the fish sauce and eat them together with the meat — the meat marinade was so good that this combo was totally my style, hahaha.

I originally ordered it to eat alongside the pho, but as I kept eating, I realized I was digging into the bun cha more eagerly.

In the end, I got a noodle refill.

You might think refilling just the noodles would leave you short on sauce, but bun cha also comes with one free sauce refill, so you can add more of both together. (I had enough sauce, so I only added noodles.)

I also added pickled onions on top of that! Eating the noodles with the sauce and pickled onions together, I kept reaching for more and finished even the extra noodles, haha.

Why Kkua Ewha works for two people or for eating alone

Kkua Ewha is a perfect combo for two people to order two mains plus a side. It's a solid choice when you're hunting for good pho near Ewha, but I also think I'll remember this place on days when I need to eat alone. Next time I come back, I'll obviously order pho together, and I'll go straight for the bun cha without a second thought, haha.

The portions are generous and the menu has plenty of variety, so it's great for two, but I'd also recommend it for a satisfying solo meal!
