Jocheon, Jeju noodle restaurant: two black pork noodle soups

When you visit Jeju, gogi-guksu (pork noodle soup) is one of those dishes you end up eating at least once. This time, moving around with the kids, we were looking for lunch near Eco Land and ended up at Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch, a well-known Jeju gogi-guksu spot.

We ordered gogi-guksu, bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles), and mul-mandu (boiled dumplings) all together, and the menu lineup worked well for eating with kids — best of all, baby noodles are free for kids under 36 months, which is great to know if you're traveling Jeju with a little one.

A Jeju pork noodle soup restaurant minutes from Eco Land

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch is in Jocheon, so it's a convenient meal stop when heading toward Eco Land, Jeju Stone Park, or Saryeoni Forest Path. Traveling Jeju's east side with kids, it's honestly a bit of a headache figuring out where to eat.

Since most Jeju trips involve driving, bad parking can be a real stressor, but here the parking space was generous, so the visit was comfortable. I'd recommend this place both to people looking for restaurants near Eco Land and to anyone wanting gogi-guksu while touring Jeju's east coast.

How child-friendly is Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch?

On a Jeju family trip, taste matters, but so does whether the kids can eat comfortably.

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch has high chairs ready, making it easy to visit with a child.

And if you have a baby, one thing that catches your eye right away is free baby noodles for under 36 months! At that age a full bowl is too much, but constantly sharing off a parent's bowl is also awkward — having a separate baby noodle option was really nice. For anyone with a young child looking for restaurants near Eco Land, this is a pretty big plus.

What to order at Myeonjumak in Jocheon, Jeju

We ordered two black pork gogi-guksu, one black pork bibim guksu, and mul-mandu — ordering both the broth-based gogi-guksu and the mixed bibim guksu let us try both styles.

Black pork gogi-guksu: the dish to eat in Jeju

First, the black pork gogi-guksu! With a milky broth and a generous pile of meat on top, it looked filling just by itself.

Myeonjumak uses a pork bone broth simmered for a long time, so the soup was rich but not heavily greasy.

Eating the meat and noodles together was filling and worked well as a meal during a Jeju trip. I've usually had Jeju black pork grilled, so eating it as gogi-guksu really felt like the Jeju travel experience. If you're looking for a Jeju gogi-guksu spot and like a rich broth style, I'd recommend starting with the gogi-guksu.

Black pork bibim guksu for a spicy, tangy change

It felt like a waste to only order broth dishes, so we also got the black pork bibim guksu.

You mix the noodles evenly with the sauce and eat them together with the black pork on top.

If the gogi-guksu is rich and mild, the bibim guksu adds a tangy, sweet, spicy kick — I was glad we ordered both together. If you're visiting with a group, rather than everyone ordering the same gogi-guksu, I'd recommend getting a bibim guksu too and sharing.

Mul-mandu, the easy dish for kids to share

And for a side, mul-mandu (boiled dumplings)! When dining out with kids, you always end up looking for one more dish besides the main, and this was an easy order for that.

Good for pairing bite by bite while eating the gogi-guksu, and also a solid side dish to share with the kids. If you're visiting as a family like us, ordering gogi-guksu + bibim guksu + mul-mandu lets you taste a good variety.

Worth a stop near Eco Land on an eastern Jeju drive

I'd wanted to have gogi-guksu in Jeju at some point, and Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch was a satisfying choice — easy to visit with kids and able to cover gogi-guksu, bibim guksu, and mul-mandu all in one visit.

Especially if you're planning around Eco Land, it's positioned well for a meal before or after sightseeing, so it's worth building into your route. And if you're with a child under 36 months, remember there are free baby noodles too.
