Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch

Hi, this is Slow Sleeping Bear. This time my mom suddenly said she wanted fish, so we went out for grilled fish after a while haha. Living in Jeju, grilled fish is actually a fairly frequent meal for us, but this time I found a place with a bit of a fun twist.

Grilled fish near Jeju Airport at Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda, Yongdam Airport Branch
This is Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch. Even the name feels like it's telling you to go eat fish right now 😂 Best of all, it's close to Jeju Airport, so it seemed like a good spot to stop by whenever you're craving grilled fish during a Jeju trip.
The first thing that caught my eye as soon as we walked in was the sight of fish being grilled. You could see the grilling happening right near the entrance, so from the moment we walked in I knew we were in for some proper grilled fish today.
There were plenty of seats. We visited at 10am and were the very first customers! But right after we ordered, groups started coming in one after another, and it felt almost full haha.

The retro magazine menu, 'Sunday Jeju Issue 02'
Then we sat down at the table and — wait, at first I genuinely thought it was a retro magazine cover.

But looking closer, it said at the top 'everyday-life information menu' haha. They made the menu in the concept of a magazine called Sunday Jeju Issue 02, and it was fun seeing how carefully they carried the store's concept through even a small detail like this.

It wasn't just a list of menu items — it was a menu you could actually have fun browsing, so my mom and I laughed while looking through it together haha.

Ordering was easy through the QR ordering system on the table. They said if you find QR ordering difficult, you can just order with the owner instead.

On one side there was also an event notice — a review event where you get a 'bomb' steamed egg dish, a gift of seasoned gim (dried seaweed) when ordering a set for two, and perks for visiting during certain time slots. If you go, make sure to take part and get that steamed egg!

Mom's set for two at 26,000 won, plus grilled flounder for 10,000 won
This time we ordered the mom's set for two, ₩26,000. You could choose the grilled fish from mackerel, cutlassfish, flounder, or croaker, and we chose mackerel. For the stew, you could pick cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), soft tofu stew, or kimchi jjigae — we went with my mom's favorite, kimchi jjigae! On top of that, since we wanted to try one more grilled fish, we added grilled flounder for ₩10,000. So the total came to about ₩36,000.

Home-style banchan and the self-service side dish corner
After a short wait, the banchan (side dishes) were set out first — seasoned eggplant, dried squash side dish, dried radish and dried pepper side dish, and cabbage-cucumber vinegar salad.
Overall the side dishes felt like home cooking, and the ones we especially liked were the dried squash side dish and the seasoned eggplant. Both my mom and I kept saying 'this is so good' and kept picking at them haha.

There was also a self-service banchan corner on one side, so we could easily grab more of whatever we wanted. We probably went back for seconds and thirds about 2–3 times.
While getting more banchan at the self-bar, I also checked the origin labeling — most items were marked as domestic, and the mackerel was from Norway. This is the kind of thing I like to check before eating.

The restaurant itself was pretty clean too, and apparently it opened this past February. Maybe that's why the interior overall felt clean and the tables and fixtures seemed fairly new.
How were the stir-fried pork and kimchi jjigae?
While we were eating the banchan and waiting, the kimchi jjigae, pork bulgogi, grilled mackerel, and grilled flounder started coming out one by one. It didn't seem like much when each dish arrived separately, but once everything was laid out, the portion looked quite generous. Especially with two kinds of grilled fish plus pork bulgogi, it looked like one bowl of rice wouldn't be enough!
I tried the pork bulgogi first —

Since I'm not great with spicy food, I was glad it wasn't too spicy — just the right level.
And then the kimchi jjigae! The kimchi in it was genuinely delicious. It had tofu and meat in it too, so it went really well with rice. I always think kimchi jjigae lives or dies on how good the kimchi is, and this one really suited my taste haha.

Grilled mackerel and flounder with the house soy sauce
And finally, today's stars — the grilled mackerel and grilled flounder.

Grilled fish is best eaten while it's still hot, of course.

As I was picking the meat off the mackerel, my mom started deboning it for me from the side. Why does fish someone else picks apart for you taste so much better? 😂

It's the same fish, but somehow it just tasted even better because my mom prepared it for me haha.

You could dip the fish in two different sauces, and personally the soy sauce suited me better.

With a light dip in the soy sauce, the mackerel's clean, savory flavor made the rice disappear fast. The flounder had softer flesh too, and I enjoyed it in a different way from the mackerel.

Is the mom's set worth it? Final verdict
✓ This time we went because my mom wanted fish, and I liked that the menu lineup was more varied than expected. It wasn't just grilled fish alone — you could also have pork bulgogi and stew together, making for a hearty, satisfying meal. Above all, from the retro magazine-style menu to the entrance where you can watch the fish being grilled, the restaurant had a clear concept of its own that made it memorable.
This felt like a grilled fish restaurant in Jeju I'd think of whenever I want a warm meal with my mom. In particular, the dried squash side dish, the seasoned eggplant, and the grilled mackerel dipped in soy sauce stuck with me haha.
