Seogwipo Korean restaurant for braised cutlassfish: Sikgwa Hamkke
In short
Sikgwa Hamkke Jeju Sanbangsan Branch is a Korean restaurant in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, near Sanbangsan. We visited as a pair and enjoyed its boneless braised cutlassfish, substantial side dishes, and abalone, conch, and sea-urchin roe rice; among the braised cutlassfish dishes I tried across two Jeju trips, this suited my taste better.

During our Jeju trip, the two of us visited Sikgwa Hamkke Jeju Sanbangsan Branch (식과함께 제주산방산점) for braised cutlassfish near Sanbangsan. It was my second trip to Jeju, and of the braised cutlassfish dishes I had eaten over the two trips, this one suited my taste better.

Is it conveniently located after visiting Sanbangsan?
The address is 11-9 Hwasun-ro 142beon-gil, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. It is close to Sanbangsan, so it was convenient to stop for a meal after sightseeing. It also did not require much of a detour on our rental-car route around western Jeju.
The original post listed hours as 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Last orders were listed for 9:00 PM, with a break from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, and regular closure every Thursday.

Is there room for families or larger groups?
The restaurant felt fairly spacious. I thought even group diners could sit with relative ease.

It was fine for two people like us, and it also felt like a place where families or larger parties could settle in comfortably.

What side dishes came with the braised cutlassfish?

Not long after we sat down, the side dishes began arriving one by one. There was jellyfish salad, soy-marinated crab, and fried cutlassfish, so there was plenty to eat even before the main dish arrived.

The soy-marinated crab was not overly salty for my taste and had a savory depth, so I kept reaching for it. The jellyfish salad was sweet and tangy and whetted my appetite, and I also remembered that fried cutlassfish came as a side dish.

The lotus-root pickles contained hallabong, a Jeju citrus, and tasted refreshing. They cleared my palate between the other side dishes and the braised cutlassfish.
How were the seasoning and texture of the braised cutlassfish?
The braised cutlassfish had quite rich seasoning. It did not taste excessively salty to me, and the sauce was good mixed with rice.

The spicy, salty flavor was joined by a gentle sweetness, so I did not tire of it before finishing. The cutlassfish flesh was springy, and the braising sauce had soaked well into the inside.

I especially liked mixing rice into the rich sauce. It suited my preference for braised cutlassfish with a distinct seasoning.
Was the boneless braised cutlassfish easy to eat?
Removing bones can feel cumbersome when eating cutlassfish, but the braised cutlassfish we had was served boneless, which spared us that effort.

It was convenient not to have the flow of the meal interrupted by removing bones. I thought that would also be welcome when dining with older people or children.
Was the ₩45,000 meal for two satisfying?

The price at the time of our visit was ₩45,000 for two. Considering the braised cutlassfish and the number and quantity of side dishes, it did not feel like a waste to me.

I tend to watch meal costs while traveling, but I was satisfied with this meal's variety and quantity. With sea urchin seaweed soup and several side dishes as well, I thought it could make for a filling breakfast.
Is the portion enough with abalone, conch, and sea-urchin roe rice?

We also ate abalone, conch, and sea-urchin roe rice, so we were full without ordering extra bowls of rice. It was a good pairing with the braised cutlassfish.

The rice with abalone, conch, and sea-urchin roe had a savory flavor. It went well with the braised cutlassfish sauce without either flavor getting in the way. In my case, I felt comfortably full afterward.
Can you bring a dog?

It was listed as a place where dogs are allowed. It may be useful to note when looking for a restaurant near Sanbangsan to visit with a dog, but the original post did not provide detailed conditions.
