Jayang-dong bakery for olive cheese pastry and coffee: Stack Bakery

I visited Stack Bakery Konkuk University Station Main Branch, a Jayang-dong café close to Ttukseom Hangang Park and just a 10-minute walk from Konkuk University Station :) It was a short date with my husband, the two of us alone for once. I always get to eat what I want (which is bread), so his "bread power" (!) keeps growing too, haha. We had 2 people, 3 pastries at Stack Bakery, and everything was so good!!

Where is Stack Bakery, and what are the hours and parking?

📍 5 Ttukseom-ro 31-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 1F & 2F ⏰ Closed every Wednesday ⏰ Thursday–Tuesday 08:00–21:00. There's no dedicated parking, so we parked at Konkuk Lotte Department Store and walked about 10 minutes ;)

It was a bit overcast the day we went so the photos are a little disappointing, but on a nice day, having coffee outside here really feels like "wait, is this Europe?!" — that's the vibe of this Jayang-dong café. It stands alone as its own pretty building, so it really stands out and is easy to find! (Not saying I have zero sense of direction and my husband found it for me... shh.)

From the entrance, it already gives off major "this place is a bread mecca" energy. Honestly I'd seen it on a bakery café account and had been dying to go for ages — I'd starred it on Naver Maps forever ago — and when we finally got a precious three hours of free time on the weekend, we made it happen together. This place is famous for having every single pastry be delicious, from start to finish +_+

The moment we walked in, the staff were busily at work, and the pastries on display were so pretty my inner bread-lover's heart started pounding.

Stack Bakery is a bakery café centered on croissants and French-style pastries :) You can probably tell just from the menu, right?

Here's a quick rundown of the menu:

...and so on — the variety was huge. My eyes were spinning trying to pick something, seriously.

What a couple ordered: three pastries for two

Everything looked so pretty and delicious that my husband and I each picked one, then got a staff recommendation for the third — three pastries total. One pastry per person always feels a little sad, ha. We ended up ordering the olive cheese pastry, pain au chocolat (always my pick), and the apple pastry the staff recommended!

This Gwangjin/Jayang-dong/Ttukseom Hangang Park café is also said to have great coffee, so I had high expectations — the beans are blended by a roaster with 15 years of experience, and they said it pairs best with Stack Bakery's pastries. You can't have pastry without coffee, after all.

What is the 2nd-floor seating at Stack Bakery like?

After ordering, we got a buzzer and headed up to the 2nd floor :) What does upstairs look like?

Clean and tidy, the 2nd-floor view was great, and there were plenty of seats too!!!!! There's also a restroom on the 2nd floor, so it's convenient!

Our pastries arrived (my husband carried them up). Shiny and even more delicious-looking up close, haha.

We ordered two hot coffees too :) Nutty and delicious! My husband's pick too!

Pain au chocolat — packed with chocolate

Wow, this pain au chocolat, what is this...? How many chocolate sticks are in here...? I really love chocolate, so for me it's croissant <<<< pain au chocolat, always. This one had chocolate packed in from the very first bite to the last! Crispy outside, soft inside — genuinely a flavor I'd want to eat every day.

Apple pastry — the staff recommendation

And then the apple pastry, the staff pick — you always have to try the recommended item. If you like apple pie, you have to try this one. Get two. It disappears in a flash, magically ^^^^^^

Olive cheese pastry — the sweet-salty balance

My husband's pick, the olive cheese pastry. We both really love olives, and you kind of have to order this to balance out the sweet-salty scale, haha. Some places make the olives way too salty to eat, but this Jayang-dong bakery had none of that — the sweet-salty balance was genuinely on point. I thought this would go amazing with wine... though of course it's great with coffee too!!!!

Is Stack Bakery worth a visit?

If you're looking for a café in Seongsu, Ttukseom Yuwonji, Konkuk, or Jayang-dong, definitely visit Stack Bakery. The coffee and the pastries are both delicious and pretty — you won't regret it :) On a nice day, spend some relaxed time on the outdoor terrace, and by the way, pets are allowed on the terrace too.
