Eel buffet in Yeongjong, Incheon: back 1 min, belly 4 min, Jangsodam

All-you-can-eat eel!! Amazing value at Jangsodam (장소담) Yeongjong Direct Store 🐸 The rainy season ended and summer has truly arrived. It was so hot and I could feel my energy draining, so my partner and I decided to load up on protein. While visiting Yeongjong Island, we stopped by the Jangsodam eel and beef buffet, Yeongjong Direct Store 🐸

Where is Jangsodam Yeongjong Direct Store, and is there parking?

Jangsodam Yeongjong Direct Store is on the 2nd floor of a building near Yeongjong park, and they give you up to 3 hours of free parking, so it was easy to visit. The park is close, so it's great for a walk after eating, or a meal after a walk, haha.

Exterior and sofa seating

The exterior has the benefits of eel, beef and pork written out in big letters. Knowing I was about to eat all of them at once, my heart was racing, haha.

The inside was very clean! The sofa seats are big, so it looks good for groups of 4 to 6, haha.

What sets does the Jangsodam buffet offer?

At Jangsodam Yeongjong Direct Store you pick one of 4 sets and refill without limit. Here's what each set includes.

• A. Eel + beef + pork
• B. Eel + galbi (marinated ribs) + pork
• C. Beef + pork + yukhoe (seasoned raw beef)
• D. Pork + dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken)

To really restore our stamina, we ordered Set A, which includes eel and beef! Eel, beef and yukhoe come out by default, and you can keep ordering more without limit!!! If you scroll to the very bottom of the app, you can also choose either spicy gejang (marinated crab) or soy-marinated gejang.

Free special dishes you can order

Jangsodam has special dishes that aren't in the buffet, and you can order them extra for free!! There's a variety, like fried eggplant, potato pancake, chewy potato and cotton-soft tangsuyuk (Korean sweet and sour pork), haha.

What's at the Jangsodam self-bar?

The Jangsodam self-bar is unlimited too! From sides to pork, ssam vegetables, sauces, ramyeon and desserts, it's all there.

Sides, pork and dakgalbi

🍢 Sides include tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), tofu kimchi and sundae (blood sausage), so they're good for filling your stomach before the meat cooks, haha.

🥩 The pork includes pork galbi, pork neck, pork belly and pork skin. Seriously.. can you see how meaty it is..??? The pork skin is huge too..!! I wanted to eat it but it was so big that I didn't, sob. The dakgalbi comes in two kinds, salt and teriyaki!!!

Ssam greens and sauces

🥗 The ssam (wrap) vegetables include perilla leaves, lettuce, green onion, mushrooms and more. They're good for wrapping, and good for grilling together with the meat, haha.

🥣 Sauces include sesame oil, scallion salad sauce and eel sauce.

Ramyeon machine and desserts

🍜 There's a free Han River ramyeon machine (many varieties), and 🍪 morning rolls, cookies and an ice cream machine too. Even dessert is perfect..!!!

What comes with Jangsodam Set A?

The basic Set A comes with 1 whole eel, 4 kinds of meat, and yukhoe too!!! Ta-da~~~ Look how generous it is, sob.

You get two trays: side dishes to eat with the meat, and side dishes to eat with the eel!! The beef (beef skirt, chuck galbi and more) looked really good.

How do you grill eel? The staff's back 1 min, belly 4 min method

The eel grilling method the Jangsodam staff taught us is: back side 1 minute → belly side 4 minutes → stand it up to cook all sides. If you start with the belly side it curls right up, so be sure to grill the back side first 🐸

How was the usamgyeop (thin-sliced beef)?

In Set A, I put the beef skirt on first, and I loved that I could eat it long without cutting it! Is that a luxury only an all-you-can-eat place can give?!?! haha. It had a rich, fatty taste that sweetly soothed my stomach.

Yukhoe and beef ssam combo

The yukhoe was seasoned just right, not salty at all, and tasty. It's frozen yukhoe, but it didn't have that frozen feel and tasted quite fresh.

I put meat on it right away and ate it too!! There was no gamey smell, and I liked that you can eat it many ways, like wrapped in perilla leaves, lettuce or vegetables. Since it's all-you-can-eat, I liked being able to slice it thick without holding back!! And my favorite combo!! Pile pickled radish wrap and lots of onion in the ssam, and yum!!!!

How good is Jangsodam's eel for the price?

Jangsodam's eel was crispy outside, with no fishy smell at all, and very soft inside. My partner grilled the eel wonderfully crispy.

Piling lots of ginger into the eel sauce and eating them together was really delicious. Eel is expensive to begin with, so getting unlimited eel at this price, plus beef, is amazing value 🐸

Pork galbi

The pork galbi from the Jangsodam self-bar was very tender and sweet-salty, and really good. I was already so full from the eel and beef, but I wanted to try the pork galbi too, so I brought some.

After finishing, we used the charcoal extinguisher on the table to calm the charcoal down a bit, haha.

How was the free cotton-soft tangsuyuk?

Cotton-soft tangsuyuk isn't in the Jangsodam buffet, so we ordered it separately. It's cooked fresh in the kitchen, so it came out very warm and crispy. The sauce tastes a bit like chicken nuggets, so it was easy and light to eat.

Dessert: cookies, dinner rolls, ramyeon and ice cream

For dessert at the Jangsodam self-bar, the gyeran-gwaja (egg cookies) and chocolate chip cookies were good! Once we'd finished eating, it was time for dessert~?? haha. There are morning rolls too, so if you come with a child, you could spread jam on the bread, haha.

Don't skip the ramyeon machine

Jangsodam has a free Han River ramyeon machine, so it's great for finishing the meat with hot, spicy broth. There's a huge variety of ramyeon too 🐸

I also had ice cream from the ice cream machine. My partner used to work at Burger King, so the ice cream was scooped beautifully, haha.

It's vanilla, and not heavy but cool and clean-tasting, so it's just right after meat and eel 🐸

Final verdict on the Yeongjong eel buffet

Jangsodam is an all-you-can-eat place, but the eel and beef quality was really good!!! For this price, this lineup is truly good value. I'd go so far as to say it's a pity we'd gone already a bit full that day and couldn't eat much, sob.

Eel, beef, pork, even chicken.. I've honestly never seen a place where you can eat all of this in one spot..!!!! The owner and staff were all so kind too, haha. It's a place I definitely want to go again 🐸
