Today I visited Kkankkan Jjokbal Suwan Branch (깐깐한족발 수완점), located in Suwan-jigu!
It's so close to the bar street in Suwan-jigu, which was great!
Kkankkan Jjokbal has a lot of branches, but every single one seems to be delicious!
It's always the first thing I think of whenever I'm craving jokbal (pork trotters)!
Inside Kkankkan Jjokbal Suwan Branch — can it seat a whole group?
There were really so many tables inside and the spacing between them was wide, which I loved! With that many tables, I'd totally recommend it for company dinners or group gatherings!
There were a lot of large groups pushing several tables together too!
There's also a big screen installed, so it was great eating while watching baseball haha. It's set up nice and large at the front, so we got to eat while nervously watching the game, super fun haha.
The free sundubu jjigae and side dishes at Kkankkan Jjokbal
The complimentary sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) they give you! Crack an egg in while it's bubbling away. It was so rich and packed with soft tofu that it went incredibly well with the jokbal! Perfect for warming up your stomach as a warm-up before the jokbal! Already cracking open a bottle over the sundubu jjigae lol.
It had enoki mushrooms, onions and such in it, and it was so good haha.
They also give you an assortment of sauces, salad, pickled radish, dried radish strips, and lettuce wraps as standard! The dried radish strips were so crunchy and tasty, and the salad's dressing was amazing too haha.
Menu and the 57,000 won Friend Set half-and-half jokbal
There's a wide variety of jokbal on the menu, so it was fun choosing!
Kkankkan Jjokbal has a lot of different set options, and it's not just jokbal — they also have bossam (boiled pork wraps)! Sounds like a great spot to hit up when you're craving oyster bossam in Suwan-jigu too haha.
There's a great variety of sets for two or three people, and if you order one that comes with a side like makguksu or rice balls, it all arrives together so you don't have to agonize over extra choices! The sides are varied too — makguksu, mul naengmyeon and more — and besides non-alcoholic beer they also have highballs, great to enjoy alongside the jokbal!

We came for a second round, and the portion was so generous that everyone ended up completely full haha. If you're coming for a proper meal or as your first stop, just order based on your headcount!
The steamed egg was totally pudding-style, so jiggly and delicious haha. Since sundubu jjigae and steamed egg both come as standard, they were great to pair with the jokbal!
How the half-and-half jokbal tastes: fire-grilled spicy vs charcoal-grilled
The half-and-half jokbal finally arrived! The bouncy, jiggly look of it was amazing. It was freshly made so it was nice and warm, and it stayed warm all the way to the last bite! The jokbal came out fast after ordering too haha.
The portion was really generous, and it looked so glossy and delicious!
The fire-grilled spicy jokbal had a good kick, so even people who aren't great with spicy food could probably handle it! Spice level was maybe around Shin Ramyeon level — just mildly spicy — so alternating with the charcoal-grilled jokbal, I kept going back for more!! No off smell at all, and packed full of smoky char flavor — totally the best!
The charcoal-grilled jokbal! The ratio of lean meat to skin was so good that I could eat it all the way through without it ever feeling dry! Bouncy and packed with collagen, a total soju pairing. No off smell at all, the smoky flavor wasn't overpowering either — nutty and chewy!
It was so chewy that it just kept going down easily. I liked that it wasn't too intense in flavor either haha. I think ordering the regular and spicy half-and-half was a great call, so good to alternate between them!!
Wrapping a bite with dried radish strips and lettuce, it was so tender and delicious!
The makguksu noodles that come with the Friend Set
The makguksu (buckwheat noodles) that came with it! The portion was really generous and packed with vegetables, delicious! Jokbal and makguksu together is just needless to say — amazing!!
Which occasions suit this Suwan-jigu jokbal restaurant
The restrooms are inside and separated by gender, which was convenient. It's such a great spot in Suwan-jigu for a drink over jokbal in the evening! I'll definitely think of it whenever I'm craving jokbal or bossam! The interior is spacious with a lot of tables, so it's also great for gatherings or company dinners as a group! Highly recommend it as a go-to restaurant in Suwan-jigu haha.
