Where is Oneuldo Gajami in Pohang?
This time in Pohang I was craving sashimi, so I went to Oneuldo Gajami, right in front of Yeongildae Beach. It's open from 4 PM to 1 AM.
As the name suggests, this place really knows its flounder. It's located on the coastal road at Yeongildae in Pohang, so it's a great spot to grab a plate of sashimi while enjoying the sea view, and with outdoor seating, it's also nice for that outdoor-pocha feeling on a good-weather day.

Naver reservations are available, it's listed on all sorts of delivery platforms, and it's a Pohang Love Gift Certificate merchant. Oneuldo Gajami, a Pohang sashimi restaurant worth knowing.

Ordering one plate half flounder, half squid sashimi
That day we agonized for a while over what to eat — I wanted flounder sashimi, but I also wanted squid sashimi... honestly, isn't picking just one an impossible choice in front of sashimi like this? (˘・_・˘) So in the end we ordered flounder and squid sashimi, half-and-half! In situations like this, half-and-half is always the answer. Eating both wraps up the dilemma so neatly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Bottled water is provided and every table comes fully set with everything you need — Oneuldo Gajami, a Pohang sashimi restaurant worth knowing.

Oneuldo Gajami, a Pohang sashimi restaurant, sells wild-caught marbled flounder and live fish sashimi, and the menu is pretty varied — from flounder mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and squid mulhoe to marbled flounder sashimi, squid sashimi, seafood, and sashimi salad.

And looking through other reviews I'd found beforehand, it seemed like a lot of people order squid sashimi as well as flounder sashimi.

So we decided to just eat flounder and squid together.

After ordering, I looked around and the atmosphere was just insane.

How do the flounder and squid sashimi taste?
The side dishes came out, and it wasn't a long wait until the main sashimi arrived. Once the side dishes that go well with sashimi were laid out, the grilled flounder came out too, and honestly, my chopsticks kept reaching for it.
Flounder sashimi + squid sashimi! With both served half-and-half on one plate, it looked pretty appetizing just from the colors alone.
The flounder sashimi's chewy texture was the real charm — that distinctive firm, chewy feel of flounder came through more and more with each bite, and dipping it lightly in vinegared gochujang sauce, it just tasted like eating sashimi in Pohang, you know? When I eat flounder sashimi, I like it best with just a light dip in the sauce rather than piling on too many toppings.
The squid sashimi was a completely different feeling! It had a springy, chewy texture, so going from flounder sashimi to squid sashimi really changed the sensation in my mouth.
Wait, I came here for sashimi but I'm the one picking at the grilled flounder before the main dish even arrives (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و The nicely browned flounder had clean, light flesh that was great even eaten plain.

The ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste dip) was so good, and it was great eaten wrapped in a lettuce leaf too, so it's not exactly a secret that we asked for a lettuce refill.

Flounder sashimi is chewy and squid sashimi is springy and chewy — since the two textures are so different, I felt like ordering half-and-half was definitely the right call.

After tasting this texture and flavor, beer lovers, beer is mandatory.
Honestly, at first we were going back and forth —
"Should we just get flounder sashimi?" "Should we get squid sashimi too?" — but thinking back now, going half-and-half from the start was clearly the right move.

Outdoor seats by Yeongildae Beach
Because if we'd only eaten one, we definitely would have kept wondering about the other menu next to it while eating (¬_¬) And Oneuldo Gajami is right in front of Yeongildae Beach, so it was great for feeling the sea atmosphere while eating — a Pohang sashimi restaurant worth knowing.
Especially on a nice-weather day, eating at the outdoor tables seemed like it would be extra fun.
Actually, in other reviews too, a lot of people mentioned that the atmosphere of eating outdoors while looking at the Yeongildae sea was great,

and indoor tables are also available, so you can choose depending on the weather or the situation — Oneuldo Gajami, a Pohang sashimi restaurant worth knowing.

A lot of people think of mulhoe first when they come to Pohang, but on a day like this when I just wanted sashimi itself, flounder sashimi or squid sashimi seemed like a good choice too.

Especially since Oneuldo Gajami has a wide variety of mulhoe menus too, if you're visiting with a group, ordering mulhoe and sashimi together to share several dishes seemed like a good option.

Taking bite after bite while watching other people set off fireworks nearby, I genuinely thought, is this happiness? Cool evening weather, a colorful outdoor pocha — Oneuldo Gajami, a Pohang sashimi restaurant worth knowing.
For people like us who have trouble picking just one menu, this is actually a really important point. Rather than spending all your time agonizing over "what should I eat?", it's just easier to eat both haha

Anyway, that day I ate a piece of flounder sashimi, then a piece of squid sashimi, then flounder again, and going back and forth like that kept my chopsticks very busy.
Flounder sashimi kept pulling my hand in because of its chewy texture, and squid sashimi kept pulling my hand in because of its springy texture. Conclusion: both were delicious, so ordering half-and-half was a genius move ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و

The spicy fish stew finish, with no extra charge
If you want to see the sea and eat fresh sashimi at Yeongildae in Pohang, enjoying flounder and squid sashimi together at Oneuldo Gajami seems like a great idea.
Especially for those of you like me thinking "I want flounder but I also want squid..." — just go half-and-half. No need to agonize. Do you really need to pick and focus even in front of sashimi? (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
That day we ate deliciously with the flounder and squid sashimi half-and-half. After finishing it all, the thought that inevitably came to mind was — ah... today too, I ate sashimi well (˘▾˘)
To finish, we polished off the spicy fish stew too. It's served without any extra charge, and even though the broth looked clear and I thought it might be bland, it actually had a clean yet deep flavor, so my boyfriend ordered an extra bowl of rice hahaha

And to finish, a refreshing mouth rinse was provided so you can eat well and keep your mouth feeling clean afterward. Truly chewy flounder and springy squid — Oneuldo Gajami is the kind of Pohang sashimi restaurant that will stick in my mind. Pick for next time, when the weather's nice and my parents come to Pohang, to go all together!
