Selected Nicks: a big non-chain café near Gangnam Station

Selected Nicks is a large café on a side street off Teheran-ro 4-gil near Gangnam Station. You know how sometimes you want a café in the Gangnam Station area that isn't a chain, haha? Well, this place hit my taste exactly! It's the one I visited today: Selected Nicks.

You spot Selected Nicks as soon as you turn into the alley. I'd heard from reviews that it was big, but once I got there, it was a truly big Gangnam café!

The balcony seats at Selected Nicks fill up fast

The first thing you see when you walk in is the balcony seating, haha. The weather's been cool lately, so a coffee out there would be so atmospheric and nice! When I arrived there was plenty of room on the balcony, but by the time I left it was completely full! I guess everyone thinks alike!

What kinds of tiramisu does Selected Nicks have?

Tiramisu is what Selected Nicks is most famous for! Can you see how many kinds there are just by looking, haha?

The matcha tiramisu looked so good that I wanted it, but I had a dinner plan right after, so I held myself back. Looking at the photo now, I want it again, so a revisit is on the cards!!! At every table with two or more people, everyone had one tiramisu each! There must be a reason everyone does that, haha.

Besides tiramisu, Selected Nicks has plenty of other baked goods. Just hearing names like fig salt bread (a salted butter roll) makes me drool, haha. I bought some baked treats and snacks and went to find a seat!

Does Selected Nicks have parking?

Selected Nicks is a big Gangnam café running from B1 to the rooftop, and it has parking too. The café's own lot is free for visitors, but only sedans up to a Genesis G80 can use it. SUVs and large vehicles need to use a nearby paid lot. Below is the parking guide posted on Naver Place.

• Own parking lot: search 827-83 Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, and when you arrive at the barrier, ask the 1st-floor staff. Free for café visitors.
• Vehicles allowed in the own lot: non-SUV vehicles up to a Genesis G80 (SUVs, large sedans and tall vehicles are difficult).
• Nearby paid lot 1. Sisa Building parking lot (28 Teheran-ro 4-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul): ₩1,000 per 10 minutes.
• Nearby paid lot 2. J's Tower parking lot (16 Gangnam-daero 84-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul): ₩2,000 per 10 minutes for up to 60 minutes / ₩1,000 per 10 minutes after 60 minutes.
• Fees differ by lot, so check on site.

I sat on the 2nd floor of Selected Nicks, haha. Table seats are comfortable and nice too, but I love how atmospheric it is to see trees outside the window, so I chose a window seat!

A nature view with a cup of coffee, T_T isn't that just the best, haha. This is healing, and I think it's the easiest, most convenient stress reliever for office workers, haha. Since it's a big café near Gangnam Station, you don't need to worry much about finding a seat, but it's popular, so I recommend checking for seats first and then ordering your coffee!

How do the financiers and lemon madeleine at Selected Nicks taste?

My trio of guilty pleasures from Selected Nicks, haha! I ordered one lemon madeleine, one fig almond financier and one classic financier.

Fig almond financier

First, the fig almond financier! For someone who loves figs and almonds, this combo is cheating!! The nuttiness and sweetness deepen the more you chew, and one piece completes the whole mood, haha. So this is what elegant sweetness is! A luxurious flavor fills your whole mouth.

Classic financier

The classic financier proves that the basics taste best, haha. The buttery aroma in a single bite says it all. It's plain but never ordinary. Classics are always right, yep. Crisp outside, moist inside. You can't resist that combo. Once again, the financier stole my heart!!

Lemon madeleine

The lemon madeleine is delicious too!! If you need a mood boost, the answer is a lemon madeleine, yep. A dessert like this with a cup of coffee is even more perfect, haha. Happiness is closer than you think! One little dessert and I'm happy again today><

And I can't skip the coffee review for Selected Nicks, haha. It looked so dark that I first thought it was an Americano, and it really does have a deep shot! The milk was super nutty and rich too, so as a latte lover, it was right up my alley, haha.

Selected Nicks is a café that also runs an art shop, and you can even look around the gallery, haha. A big Gangnam Station café with parking, and a quirky Gangnam café on top of that, haha. By the way, I find a quirky café like this is even better for a blind date, since it gives you things to talk about, haha.
