Today I visited Gongjung Dodeok, an outdoor-seating restaurant on Gyeongui Line Forest Park >< Duck is the main thing here, the food is delicious, and the outdoor platform vibe has so much character that I think word will spread fast.

How to get to Gongjung Dodeok: 5 minutes from Daeheung Station Exit 3
Gongjung Dodeok is a 5-minute walk from Daeheung Station Exit 3, right on Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so it was very easy to find. The walking path is so nice that getting off at Gongdeok Station and strolling over is also a fine option.

What time should you arrive for an outdoor seat at Gongjung Dodeok?
To get an outdoor platform seat at Gongjung Dodeok, it seems best to reserve ahead or arrive before 7 PM. I went around 6 PM, and by the time the sun had set and I was done eating, the outdoor seats were almost all full.
You know the outdoor-seating vibe that's the hottest thing right now? Gongjung Dodeok nails exactly that, with platforms spread all over the yard, and the atmosphere was really great.
Gongjung Dodeok interior and private room

Inside, Gongjung Dodeok had plenty of roomy tables, plus a separate private room. I saw a table that had booked a group gathering and another that came for an after-work company dinner. Since it's newly opened, the interior is clean and the whole place felt pleasant.
Gongjung Dodeok menu: from duck jumulleok to duck hot pot

Gongjung Dodeok lets you try lots of different duck dishes. Marinated jumulleok (stir-fried marinated meat) and roast grilled duck are the basics, and there are also duck potato stew and duck hot pot, plus plenty of side dishes, so you can pick by taste.
Haha, I wanted to try everything, so I ordered the Gongjung half-and-half set, medium (2 people). And a barley shrimp minari pancake on top! Let the pig party begin.

The basic setting came first: pickled radish wraps (ssammu), perilla leaves, green onion kimchi, pickled garlic stems, and two sauces for the duck. I'll get to it later, but Gongjung Dodeok is so good at sauces... so delicious...
What comes in the Gongjung half-and-half medium set for two (69,000 won)?

The Gongjung half-and-half set, medium (2 people) is ₩69,000 and includes half marinated duck jumulleok, half roast duck, minari, and boneless duck potato stew. If you want to taste a bit of everything, I totally recommend the set! The spread looked so generous, it's crazy...

Marinated duck or roast duck: which should you grill first?
The half-and-half set comes with half marinated jumulleok and half roast duck together on a stone plate. The marinade burns relatively easily, so grill the jumulleok quickly first and take your time cooking the roast duck! Potatoes, minari and rice cakes come too, and they were great alongside.

Boneless duck potato stew: a main dish, not a side
I figured the boneless duck potato stew in the set would feel like a side~ but what is this? It's a main too, lol. The amount of duck inside is no joke. It isn't pre-cooked stew ladled out; they put raw duck into the broth and you boil it right there, so fresh! Wow. One warning: the duck has to cook all the way through, so boil it thoroughly!!!
It's normally a grill-it-yourself system, but a staff member kept coming by to check and explain things well. Super kind!
Marinated duck jumulleok with mayo sauce and perilla leaf wraps
I started with the well-cooked marinated duck jumulleok. I dipped it in the special mayo sauce for jumulleok, and also wrapped it in perilla leaves and dipped it~ The marinade is a bit strong and punchy, which is perfect for wraps. The perilla aroma was insane too ㅠ And the special sauce was good as well.
Ebisu draft beer at Gongjung Dodeok, 13,000 won

Gongjung Dodeok sells Ebisu draft beer for ₩13,000. Yes,,, I couldn't resist and ordered a glass ^^ Ebisu on draft is rare, but they have it here. Honestly, the Ebisu was super good.
Barley shrimp minari pancake, 22,000 won: how big is it?

The barley shrimp minari pancake is ₩22,000, and be warned, it's huge. While we were eating, the side-dish pancake we'd ordered arrived. It's minari covered with plenty of barley shrimp and fried, so the shrimp flavor was nutty and delicious. You can eat your fill of minari at Gongjung Dodeok...

Roast duck with the garlicky roast sauce
The roast duck at Gongjung Dodeok has a clean, mild flavor. You'll want to control the heat so it doesn't burn. We were chatting while eating and it cooked in no time.

Of the sauces I mentioned at the start, this roast sauce! It is so good... It's nutty and bursting with garlic aroma, so dipping the roast duck in it is crazy addictive. Total recommendation.
This roast sauce was so good that I dipped the barley shrimp minari pancake in it too and kept on eating, heh

Gonggamtang (boneless duck potato stew): free broth refills
The well-boiled gonggamtang was delicious too, with rich broth and generous ingredients. Probably because it's boiled at a full rolling boil, the duck felt more tender than the jumulleok and roast duck. If the broth runs low while you eat, they add more for free.

This is the Gongjung Dodeok duck rules sign I snapped on the way out. Phew, we were so full with just the two of us that missing rule number 8 is such a shame ㅠ
Outdoor seating at Gongjung Dodeok after sunset

As it got darker, the outdoor platforms at Gongjung Dodeok came even more alive. Duck and a drink outdoors, not bad, right?
It looked perfect for a group gathering, so I want to go back with friends. I recommend Gongjung Dodeok as a go-to near Daeheung Station and Gongdeok Station~
