Danyang bakery taste test: baguette garlic bread wins at Danppang

Danyang is famous for garlic, so there are lots of garlic-based foods around here! This time I picked up some Danyang garlic bread from a well-known spot inside Gugyeong Market.

It's not just plain garlic bread — it's a gift set with several different flavors, so it's great for sharing with family or giving as a present~ It's located inside Gugyeong Market, so it's easy to find~

Where is Danppang Bakery in Gugyeong Market?

Danppang Bakery sits inside Danyang Gugyeong Market, along the row packed with garlic chicken shops. The market has a dome-shaped roof, so it's a great place to walk around even when it's raining or snowing! M marks the main entrance to the market, and there are several side entrances too~

The row where Danppang Bakery is located had the most famous eateries clustered together — right across from it was a garlic chicken spot with a line out the door, and I could spot other famous garlic chicken shops in that same row too! So it's a great location to grab some Danyang garlic bread as dessert after your garlic chicken, or to pick up as a gift for someone.

Danppang Bakery's best-selling gift set is the four-flavor set for 14,000 won. It's been featured on TV programs quite a bit, and they even had samples ready to try~

Rather than picking just one flavor, I went with the four-flavor set so I could try a bit of everything on my first visit — cream cheese, black garlic cream cheese, sweet potato, and baguette. It was labeled as four types: Danyang cream cheese garlic bread / black garlic cream cheese garlic bread / sweet potato custard garlic bread / baguette garlic bread!

How long the garlic bread keeps, and how to reheat it

Danyang garlic bread keeps at room temperature for 1–2 days, and when eating it at home, you can pop it in an air fryer or oven at 165°C for 3 minutes! The microwave works too — about 1 minute 30 seconds gave really good results!

Baguette garlic bread: the best of the four

The baguette garlic bread was the most basic option, and unlike the cream-filled ones, it let you really feel the texture of the baguette itself~ Crispy outside, moist inside — the contrast really stood out when I alternated it with the cream cheese one, and since I love crispy textures, this plain baguette garlic bread was the tastiest of all for me!

Cream cheese garlic bread: the flavor the kids finished first

The cream cheese garlic bread has cream cheese tucked between the layers of baguette, so you get the signature sweet garlic bread flavor along with the softness of cream cheese — and looking at actual reviews, quite a few people said this was their favorite flavor. The kids really loved it~

Black garlic cream cheese and sweet potato custard compared

The black garlic cream cheese garlic bread had a somewhat unique flavor~ It had that black garlic aroma along with a creamy sauce, and I thought it was the one that best matched Danyang's local character.

The sweet potato custard garlic bread had the most noticeable sweetness~ Surprisingly, my parents really liked it~ If you're eating it a day later, I definitely recommend reheating it in the oven or air fryer using the method above~
