Jung-gu Chinese restaurant with mala mapo tofu rice: Huhugwan, Seoul
Huhugwan is a new Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant on Seosomun-ro 11-gil near City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. The writer ordered yurinchi (crispy fried chicken with sauce) for 23,000 won and mapo tofu rice for 18,000 won — the Huhugwan mapo tofu rice tasted of real tingly mala spice rather than the ketchup-sweet Korean version, and the yurinchi came in a crisp black batter. With egg soup, peanuts and fried dumplings included, Huhugwan is a 100% return visit.
