Chuseok-night last order at Haeundae Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a European-style Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. On a Chuseok-holiday drive out to Cheongsapo, a couple walked in as the final guests just before the 20:30 last order and ordered beef brisket jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), ganjjajang (stir-fried black bean noodles) with poached egg and pork belly, and whole-garlic yurinji (crispy chicken in tangy sauce), while the black vinegar tangsuyuk was already sold out. Between the setting and the cooking, Bueokgan is an easy pick for a family dinner or a Haeundae date.

Today I'm sharing a European-style Chinese restaurant that's a great pick if you're after Chinese food in Haeundae, Busan.

I ate at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, located on Dalmaji-gil near Cheongsapo in Haeundae, and both the atmosphere and the food quality were so satisfying I wanted to write it up and recommend it.
If you're looking for a good-vibe restaurant in Haeundae for a family meal or a date with your partner, and want a proper Chinese meal, I'd recommend this one.
Where is Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, and what are the hours?

The address of Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is 200 Dalmaji-gil 117beon-na-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea, 1st floor. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with break time from 15:00 to 16:30, and last order at 20:30.
After wrapping up a busy Chuseok family schedule, my husband and I visited Bueokgan Chinese on the way to Dalmaji-gil and Cheongsapo for a date.

We'd been to the original Bueokgan restaurant, known for its Western food, many times, but this was our first visit to Bueokgan Chinese, which serves Chinese dishes, haha.

It's a great Chinese restaurant to pair with a trip to Dalmaji-gil or Cheongsapo like we did — it really captures that laid-back Dalmaji-gil mood, which I loved 🙂

An interior unlike a typical Chinese restaurant: Hong Kong film mood
From the entrance, Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch has a clean, refined interior that felt completely different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant — genuinely upscale.
Instead of leaning on the usual bold red Chinese decor, the whole place is styled in a calm, modern way.
I noticed clever, stylish touches — the kind of accent pieces you might spot in a Chinese restaurant abroad.
The music matched the exotic interior perfectly — it had this old Hong Kong film feel, like we'd wandered into some Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong.

It felt like a great choice for a family meal or an important gathering at a upscale Chinese restaurant, and honestly it would hold its own as a Haeundae date spot too!
Turns out there's a whole backstory behind this concept. Apparently the idea traces back to a premium Chinese restaurant in Shanghai run by a Scandinavian couple, and that world is where this blend of exotic charm and modern sensibility began.
When designing the space, they apparently picked the interior and furniture without deliberately going for a 'Chinese' look — which might be exactly why it ended up feeling Asian in mood but not boxed into a typical Chinese style, resulting in something sleek and distinctive ✨
My husband loved the unusual vibe too! When people look for a Chinese restaurant for a date, they usually go in expecting the food more than the atmosphere, but a place with a space this well designed feels right for a special occasion, and works fine as a stop on a Haeundae date course too 👍🏻

Seating and timing: when is Bueokgan quietest?
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch has a spacious, comfortable interior of about 165㎡ (50 pyeong), with a variety of seating and generously spaced tables, so you can eat without feeling crowded by the next table 😌 It seems like a comfortable spot for small get-togethers, group gatherings, or family meals.

Maybe because we came in right before last order, we were the very last customers and got to sit and eat at a relaxed pace. Apparently it's popular enough that there's a wait during peak meal times! If you'd like a more relaxed meal, going just outside peak hours like we did seems like a good move.

What the couple ordered: beef brisket jjamppong and poached-egg ganjjajang
Menu time! 👀 We went back and forth between jjajang and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) the whole way there — turns out I'm a jjamppong person. There were two jjamppong options, seafood or beef brisket, and since I usually eat the seafood kind, I went with the beef brisket jjamppong for a change!
My husband picked the poached-egg five-layer ganjjajang, apparently the most beloved dish at Bueokgan Chinese. Classic him — he always goes for whatever's new or most popular wherever we go.
Delicious Chinese dishes made fresh to order! 😍 The food came out surprisingly quickly after we ordered — I was curious how it would taste, since the upscale, stylish interior naturally raised my expectations for every dish.

Seeing the jjamppong piled with beef brisket and the big poached egg sitting on the jjajang sauce, it already passed the looks test 👏🏻

My first bite of the jjamppong told me right away that Bueokgan Chinese doesn't stop at the interior — the food, too, starts from authentic Chinese cooking and adds its own character and flavor to make it feel more refined.

Beef brisket jjamppong: the broth and the noodles
Being a meat-based jjamppong, the broth carried a deep meaty aroma from the very first sip. There was plenty of meat piled on top, so I never felt short-changed eating it with the noodles 😙🧡
I couldn't believe how generously they piled on the beef — a restaurant that uses good ingredients but doesn't skimp on portions! Even the broth alone, spooned separately, was delicious — spicy but not overly aggressive, the kind of flavor that kept pulling my spoon back.
It's a jjamppong anyone would like, young or old. The rich meaty aroma paired with the spicy broth made for a bowl with real depth from the broth alone.

The noodles were also noticeably plumper and thicker than typical jjamppong noodles, giving a chewier bite with every mouthful. A familiar dish, but Bueokgan's own take gave it a fresh spin.

How does the poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang taste?
The smoky five-layer pork belly and the soft, savory poached egg came together beautifully in the poached-egg ganjjajang — calling it more like a piece of art than a plain jjajangmyeon wasn't an exaggeration at all.

Popping the poached egg in the center and mixing the yolk into the jjajang sauce added a rich, silky depth that took it well beyond a regular ganjjajang 😝
And with smoky pork belly on top, how could it not be even better? Rich in fat and juicy, the pork belly paired perfectly with the savory-salty jjajang sauce.

Sweet, salty, and savory all at once — a genuine party in the mouth, haha. Usually halfway through a jjajangmyeon I start craving jjamppong, but this dish never got old, so we happily enjoyed it down to the last bite. This is exactly why it's Bueokgan Chinese's must-try dish❣️

Black vinegar tangsuyuk sold out: whole-garlic yurinji instead
Good food deserves good yurinji (fried chicken with sweet-sour sauce) beside it! Bueokgan's yurinji had a distinctive twist — whole-garlic yurinji, fried chicken served with whole cloves of garlic, which cut the usual greasiness of fried food while adding the garlic's sharp sweetness, so we never got tired of it to the last bite. The fried garlic was quite sweet, but the finely chopped chili on top added a nice sharp kick!
The crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture was satisfying too, so I'd recommend the whole-garlic yurinji as a side dish. We'd originally wanted the black vinegar tangsuyuk, but it had sold out early, which was a real letdown.

Luckily, the yurinji we chose instead suited both our tastes and exceeded expectations, haha.

Everything we ordered today was delicious — a bit of a problem! Since every dish at Bueokgan Chinese suited my taste so well, I'm even more curious about the black vinegar tangsuyuk I still haven't tried. Next time I'll make sure to get there before it sells out and finally taste the tangsuyuk 🥹
If you're looking for a special dining spot in Busan or a good-atmosphere restaurant in Haeundae, Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is worth a stop for a distinctive Chinese food date or a solo meal 🥰

For anyone who wants great-quality Chinese food in a setting that's a little different from the usual Chinese restaurant, I recommend Bueokgan Chinese!
