Chinese restaurant in Yangsan: red vs white jjamppong for two, Rohwa
In short
Rohwa is a newly opened Chinese restaurant in Seoksan, Dong-myeon, Yangsan. On a weekday evening, a couple ordered Rohwa's 2-person set of classic red jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), white jjamppong and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) in the ₩20,000 range, and also got free fried dumplings, a prize-draw event and a yogurt after the meal. The deeply savory red jjamppong and the sharp, spicy white jjamppong each have a distinct character, making Rohwa a Yangsan Chinese restaurant worth revisiting to try every kind of jjamppong.

Today I'm sharing our visit to Rohwa (로화), a Chinese restaurant in Seoksan, Dong-myeon, Yangsan, and a great jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot haha

If you're looking for a place in Yangsan for lunch or dinner, I'd recommend this newly opened Chinese restaurant. The food is good, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable and the service made us happy. We were satisfied all around!
Where is Rohwa in Yangsan and what are the opening hours?
Rohwa is a Chinese restaurant at 63 Geumo 2-gil, Dong-myeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam (1st floor). It's open daily 11:00-22:00, with a break from 14:00 to 16:00, last order at 21:30, and it's closed on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month.

Rohwa in Seoksan: parking and atmosphere
There's a public parking lot near Rohwa, so we parked easily. On a weekday evening my husband said he wanted jjamppong, so dinner was decided without any debate. We'd heard a new Chinese restaurant had opened in Seoksan, Dong-myeon, and that's how we ended up at Rohwa! 💚
We both love Chinese food, so whenever a new Chinese restaurant opens, we go out of our way to try it haha
As you'd expect from a new place, both outside and inside are very clean and pleasant, and I loved it. Above all, the interior is quite different from a typical Chinese restaurant. It's a bright, warm space in white tones, so it wouldn't feel strange at all if they served Western food instead.
Instead of the intense mood typical of Chinese restaurants, it felt cozy and relaxed, which I personally liked even more. It's a good vibe for a weekday date night with my husband, I'd say? 🥰

Even on a weekday evening, customers kept coming in haha. When we arrived, someone was already eating alone, and during our meal families came in one after another 🧑🧑🧒
Chinese food works for a quick solo bowl and for a family meal out ❤️ The atmosphere lets anyone eat comfortably, so having a Chinese restaurant like this in the neighborhood felt really... welcome 👍🏻

What's in Rohwa's 2-person jjamppong set and how much is it?
Rohwa's 2-person set comes with two bowls of jjamppong plus tangsuyuk (Korean sweet and sour pork) from the main dishes, and it was in the ₩20,000 range. Considering how pricey eating out is these days, getting this much for the ₩20,000 range is pretty appealing!
Looking at the menu after we sat down, Rohwa had an especially wide variety of jjamppong. Since we came because my husband wanted jjamppong, we chose around it: I picked the classic jjamppong, and my husband, who likes unusual dishes, went for the white jjamppong. Another thing I liked was that there's a set menu at a reasonable price! 😆
Once the food arrived, what surprised me even more than the price was the generous portion 👏🏻 The jjamppong comes in a big bowl filled generously, and the tangsuyuk in the set was quite large too~!! Even though it's a set, the dish wasn't small, and it seemed bigger than a small size? 🫢 It felt like they serve food without holding back, so I was satisfied before even starting haha

How does Rohwa's classic red jjamppong taste?
Rohwa's classic jjamppong is a red jjamppong loaded with seafood such as clams and squid, and its rich savory depth was what impressed me most. With so much seafood in one bowl, it looked appetizing from the start.
The moment I tasted the red broth, wow..! The deep savory flavor sent a shiver through my whole body 🥹 It isn't just spicy and stimulating; the cool taste of seafood and deep umami come together, so I kept spooning up the broth.
Even while eating noodles I wanted the broth, so I scooped it up separately, enough said! hehe 🤤 "Addictive jjamppong" is exactly the phrase for it haha

Maybe because it's cooked to order, the noodles were springy and chewy, and with the generous seafood on top, one bowl felt even more filling!

Red vs white jjamppong at Rohwa: what's the difference?
Rohwa's white jjamppong is a white-broth jjamppong whose charm is a spicy kick that's both sharp and clean. The white jjamppong my husband chose had a different appeal from the classic one 🥄🤍

If the red jjamppong wins you over with rich savory depth, the white one's charm is a spicy kick that's sharp yet clean 😘 The broth color is different, but the taste was not bland at all!

Thanks to its refreshing kick, it's a jjamppong I think anyone could enjoy 🤍

Both have such distinct personalities that it's hard to say only one is the tasty one 🫠 The wide variety of jjamppong showed Rohwa's confidence, and after trying them I felt the owner really specializes in jjamppong!

If you love jjamppong, I think you could order by taste, or try one of each kind every time you visit!

Rohwa's set tangsuyuk: sauce poured over or on the side?
Rohwa's tangsuyuk comes with the sauce already poured on (the "bu-meok" style), and even as part of a set, the big pieces came in a generous portion. Along with the jjamppong, the tangsuyuk was the dish I was most satisfied with this meal. I thought I'd just have it as a light side with the set, but it came out more generous than expected, which surprised me.

The sweet and sour, thick sauce coated the tangsuyuk evenly, and the batter was chewy and soft, just my taste~ 😍
The big pieces had thick meat inside, so you really feel the bite. It isn't tangsuyuk with only thick batter; it's packed inside, which made me even happier haha Sweet sauce meets thick meat, it would be harder for it not to taste good! A bite of tangsuyuk with a sip of jjamppong broth is a fantastic combination 🔥
Free fried dumplings at Rohwa
Maybe because they hadn't been open long, Rohwa gave every table fried dumplings as a free service, matching the number of people!? The jjamppong and tangsuyuk were already plenty, and with the dumplings the table got even richer.
Oh, and even the fried dumplings here are good?? From the main dishes to the sides, nothing disappointed, which makes it even more memorable.

Rohwa's nostalgic prize-draw event and after-meal yogurt
Rohwa had a nostalgic prize-draw event you can enjoy a little during your meal haha

We joined for fun and the result was 5th place! 😳 Still, we got a free soda, which was nice. A small event like this makes mealtime more fun haha If the event is running when you visit, give it a try~!
And on your way out after the meal, don't forget to grab the yogurt they have ready as a free treat! From the dumplings to the prize draw to the yogurt, there was so much service that it's a place I remember fondly 💕
The owner and staff were also kind, so we could eat comfortably from start to finish.

Is Rohwa in Seoksan, Yangsan worth going back to?
Rohwa, the Chinese restaurant in Yangsan, doesn't hold back on taste, portions or service, and it was a perfect weekday dinner spot for us as a couple. It started as an ordinary weekday dinner out with my husband saying "jjamppong", and we found a much better restaurant than expected. Personally, I think I'll crave the rich savory jjamppong and the crispy, chewy tangsuyuk again ✨

It's easy to enjoy whether you're dining solo, on a date or with family, so I plan to stop by again on days I crave Chinese food 🍜❤️ The clean, pleasant interior, generous portions and reasonable prices, and above all that every dish was delicious, make it a place I want to return to 🫶🏻

If you're looking for Chinese food in Yangsan or a good spot in Seoksan, I hope you'll visit the newly opened Chinese restaurant Rohwa!
