This is a review of Bakerist Brown, a bakery near Gangnam Station. At this large Gangnam Station café with spacious seating on every floor, I tried salt cream coffee, madeleines, and Gangnam Sand.

Where is Bakerist Brown? A red brick building between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations

I had errands to run in Gangnam and was looking for a bakery near Gangnam Station when I stopped by Bakerist Brown. It sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, and the red brick building made it easy to spot from a distance.

There are outdoor terrace seats on both sides of the main entrance, so I imagine the terrace will get popular once the weather cools down!

What's on the 1st-floor bakery display, from pastries to salt bread and madeleines

On the 1st floor of Bakerist Brown, you can see a wide variety of baked goods at a glance. There were so many kinds — pastries, salt bread, madeleines — that I took my time browsing before ordering.

There was a wide range of croissants, pastries, madeleines and other baked treats, plus cakes. Going along the display case at this Gangnam Station bakery, it actually took me a while to decide what to get.

True to a Gangnam bakery, they say everything is handmade with French butter and fresh ingredients!

Which floor to sit on at Bakerist Brown, from basement 1 to the 3rd floor

Bakerist Brown is a large Gangnam Station café that uses the entire building from basement 1 up to the 3rd floor. Seating isn't clustered in one space — each floor has a different mood, so I walked around and picked my spot after seeing them all.

Basement 1: the big shared table

Even though it's basement level, you only go down a few steps from street level, so you can still see outside. It felt open and bright rather than closed-in.

There's a big table too, which looks great as a Gangnam meetup spot for a group.

2nd floor seating

The 2nd floor is mostly white and ivory tones, giving it a bright, soft atmosphere. Natural light comes in through the windows, and there were plants around.

Of the three floors, this one was personally my favorite. It was also the busiest when I visited, so I could tell it's the popular floor.

3rd floor: the rattan chair seats

The 3rd floor is also spacious, with generous distance between seats. Some spots have rattan chairs, which gave it a slightly calmer feel compared to the 2nd floor.

I needed some quiet time to myself that day, so I settled on the 3rd floor and enjoyed it in peace. Even on a lunchtime visit, being able to choose your seat by mood — from the basement all the way to the 3rd floor — feels like a big plus at a large Gangnam café like this.

Salt cream coffee, 7,800 won

Bakerist Brown's signature menu item, salt cream coffee, comes with soft cream layered on top of the coffee. First came the nutty, sweet taste of the cream, followed by a light hint of salt.

It wasn't just a sweet cream coffee — you could also taste the bitterness of the coffee underneath, which made it feel different from the usual. It's the coffee I'd recommend if you're pairing coffee with bakery items at a dessert café near Gangnam Station.

Gangnam Sand set, 8 pieces for 19,000 won

The Gangnam Sand set comes with 8 pieces. Each one is a different color with different cream inside, so it was fun laying them out and deciding which flavor to try first.

Tasting them, each sandwich had a different cream flavor, and the outer sand shells also varied slightly in taste and aroma. It felt less like eight of the same sandwich and more like tasting eight different little desserts.

Overall it leans sweet. With all that cream, the sweetness really comes through, so sipping the bitter coffee in between worked well. Since it's 8 pieces, it's great for sharing with a group, and it can be packed to go too, so I'd recommend it as a dessert gift near Gangnam Station.

Choco madeleine, 3,500 won

The choco madeleine paired the sweet richness of chocolate nicely with the madeleine's signature soft texture. If you like baked treats at a Gangnam bakery, I'd recommend this one.

Double vanilla bean madeleine, 3,200 won

Compared to the choco madeleine, the double vanilla bean madeleine was a bit softer and more fragrant. The vanilla aroma carried gently through the moist madeleine. Paired with coffee, it was easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy.
