I found Wine Stein while looking for a café with a nice atmosphere in Seochon!

The name made it feel very much like a wine bar, so I wondered if I should go in the evening, but it can be enjoyed like a Seochon café during the day and even has a lunch set. So I visited around 11:30 on Monday morning.

Because it is on the third floor, I thought it might be hard to find at first, but I spotted it right away.

It is also within walking distance of Gyeongbokgung Station, so the location seemed nice for stopping by during a Seochon date.

A Bright Space Like a Seochon Café by Day

As soon as I went inside, I was surprised by how huge the space was!

When I think of a wine bar, I picture dim lighting and a slightly weighty mood, but Wine Stein was the complete opposite.

Sunlight pours in through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, so it really feels like a bright, pretty Seochon café during the day.

It felt easy to have lunch leisurely on my own, and the atmosphere made for pretty photos, too. There was also an impressive variety of wines on one side, and it was quite fun to look through them.

They sell not only wine but also charming little goods, so it was nice to browse them one by one while waiting.

It is a Seochon wine bar where you can enjoy a café and lunch during the day, then come for a glass of wine in the evening, so I think the mood changes depending on the time of day.

A Light First Meal From Lunch Club

One of the reasons I came was Lunch Club!

For ₩16,500, you choose two of a croissant sandwich, salad and pasta, and mushroom soup, with an Americano or cola/lemon-lime soda.

Since it was my first meal of the day, I did not want anything too heavy, so I chose the salad and pasta and the mushroom soup.

Honestly, the croissant sandwich looked so delicious that I debated it until the end, but I decided to save it for my next visit haha.

Daytime Red Wine by the Big Windows

And since I had come to a Seochon wine bar, I could not just pass up the wine, right? I paid the extra charge to switch my drink to red wine.

You can choose red or white, but I always love red, so red it was! Having a light glass of red wine beside the sunlit windows in broad daylight made an ordinary Monday feel strangely like I was traveling.

The mushroom soup was warm and smooth, so it was good on an empty stomach, and the salad alongside it made the whole meal easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy.

It was a combination that made me think I had chosen well for my first meal. Next time, I am definitely trying the croissant sandwich too!

Best of all, the owner was kind, so I could stay comfortably even though I visited alone.

The space is roomy and gets great daylight, so it seems nice not only for a Seochon date with a friend but also for days when you want brunch or a glass of wine alone. But as it got close to noon, lots of nearby office workers started coming in too!

If you are torn between a Seochon café and a Seochon wine bar, I would recommend Wine Stein, where you can enjoy both moods.

I was happy with the lunch-set selection, and the bright atmosphere was especially my taste, so I would like to come back for the croissant sandwich next time :)
