Hongdae date café: iced Inmaculada Geisha and tiramisu, Central Site

In short

Central Site Hapjeong is a specialty roastery café on an alley corner near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. After smelling the beans first, the writer ordered hand-drip Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed and an iced-only Colombia Inmaculada Geisha, alternating sips with a classic tiramisu. Central Site Hapjeong is a good fit for a Hongdae or Hapjeong date if you want to compare a nutty coffee with a tea-like one side by side.

Photo introducing Central Site Hapjeong, a café near Hapjeong Station

What kind of café is Central Site Hapjeong?

Central Site Hapjeong is a roastery café in an alley near Hapjeong Station, where you can enjoy a wide range of beans and hand drip coffee. It opens at 8 a.m., so it works for morning coffee too. I was walking around the Hapjeong backstreets and stopped by Central Site Hapjeong, whose calm mood stood out, and the clean, stylish space left an impression. It's a Hapjeong café that's great for a Hongdae-area date, with coffee and dessert and a relaxed pace.

Central Site Hapjeong sits on an alley corner, so it catches your eye from far away. A black awning and "COFFEE ROASTERS" lettering add to the stylish look, and there's a wooden bench and outdoor seating out front. You can see inside through the glass, which feels open, and even on a rainy day it looked nice to sit under the awning with a coffee. For coffee-loving couples, I'd recommend this Hapjeong Station café as a Hongdae-area date spot.

Inside, the industrial mood stands out, with concrete walls and ceiling and exposed pipes left as they are. Wooden furniture and soft orange lighting on top of those cold materials make the whole place feel warm and comfortable.

In the middle is an open bar with a large coffee machine and lots of drippers, so you can watch the coffee being made up close. Many kinds of beans and packages are displayed neatly, and there's a scent station where you can smell the beans yourself, which makes choosing them fun.

Bar seats face the big windows and small tables are packed in sensibly. Through the glass you can even see the roasting equipment, which adds to the feel of a proper roastery café.

The mood is made for enjoying coffee in many ways, and it flows naturally into the dessert showcase and the bean shelves, so there's plenty to look at.

Central Site Hapjeong menu

Drink menu at Central Site Hapjeong

The menu has plenty of choices, from basic espresso drinks to cold brew, non-coffee drinks, tea and seasonal drinks. Familiar items like the Americano, café latte and flat white are there, along with distinctive seasonal drinks such as the cream puff latte (슈크림라떼), cold brew Mont Blanc and s'mores chocolat.

In particular, the brewed coffee range is wide, with Panama Geisha, Ethiopia Gesha Village, Colombian specialty beans and other origins and processing methods, so it's fun to pick the bean that suits your taste. There's also the Public Blend with rich dark chocolate notes and the Season Blend with bright fruit and floral aromas, so you can choose by preference.

Tiramisu dessert menu at Central Site Hapjeong

Desserts are brownie tiramisu, Lotus tiramisu and classic tiramisu. The brownie stood out for its deep chocolate flavor, and the Lotus had the nutty sweetness of biscuit. The classic tiramisu comes heavily dusted with cocoa and goes well with smooth, strong coffee, making it a nice dessert to have alongside a cup.

From smelling beans to hand drip: how does ordering work?

Choosing between the Guatemala and Colombia Geisha beans

The beans we chose at Central Site Hapjeong were the Guatemala Entre Volcanes 2026 Washed and the Colombia Inmaculada Geisha Natural, Fellows Farms IFF-2423. Before ordering, the staff helped us smell the beans, and comparing the aromas to pick a coffee that suits your taste already felt special.

The barista hand-dripped each chosen bean one cup at a time with care, and watching the coffee come together up close was fun too.

Classic tiramisu topped with cocoa powder

Classic tiramisu and coffee pairing

The classic tiramisu we ordered caught my eye first with its generous cocoa powder and coarsely shaved chocolate pieces. The cream layers split softly under the fork, and in the mouth the moist sponge and smooth cream came together naturally. It wasn't too sweet, so it never felt heavy, and the bittersweet cocoa and chocolate kept the flavor calm. It's less a rich, heavy dessert and more a soft, light one, so it goes well with coffee.

With the nutty, sweet Guatemala coffee, the creaminess and chocolate aroma of the tiramisu came through even stronger. With the bright, tea-clear Colombia Geisha, on the other hand, the sweetness of the dessert became more distinct, and comparing the two was fun. The portion is generous enough for two people to share with two coffees, and it goes naturally with specialty coffee without overpowering its flavor.

Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed hand drip coffee

What does Guatemala Entre Volcanes 2026 Washed taste like?

Unlike the strong, bitter image I had of Guatemalan coffee, the Guatemala Entre Volcanes 2026 Washed was much softer and easier than I expected. The staff recommended it for my friend, who doesn't like acidity. The first sip had a nutty aroma like well-roasted hazelnut, followed naturally by a subtle butterscotch sweetness and the smooth flavor of milk chocolate.

It has body but no lingering strong bitterness, so it's easy to drink, and the nuttiness and sweetness held steady even after it cooled a bit. It's a completely different charm from the flashy, fragrant Colombia Geisha, showing a familiar yet more refined taste of coffee. If you prefer nutty, mellow coffee to high-acidity coffee, this bean should satisfy you.

Iced-only Colombia Inmaculada Geisha Natural

Why is the Colombia Inmaculada Geisha Natural served only iced?

The Colombia Inmaculada Geisha Natural, Fellows Farms IFF-2423, is served only iced at Central Site Hapjeong. It comes in a glass with big square ice cubes, and my first sip felt much closer to a fragrant tea than to the coffee we usually think of, which was really fresh.

Tea-clear iced drip Colombia Geisha

A fresh citrus aroma like yuja and lemon peel spreads first, followed by a clear, subtle tea note like Ceylon tea. The acidity isn't sharp or harsh but light and transparent, and a bright floral note lingers in the mouth for a long time. As the ice melts bit by bit, the aroma and taste loosen softly, giving a more comfortable and delicate flavor than at first.

It's a distinctive specialty coffee that I think suits people who like fragrant tea or fruit tea more than strong coffee.

Is Central Site Hapjeong worth a return visit?

What impressed me most about Central Site Hapjeong is that you can smell a variety of specialty beans yourself and choose to suit your taste. The hand drip coffee the barista pours with care had a clear personality for each bean, and the combination with tiramisu was good too. With its stylish space and professional coffee experience, it's a Hapjeong specialty roastery café I'd like to revisit, and a good Hongdae-area date spot.
