Sinnonhyeon café, corn cheesecake on a hot day: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a vintage-style dessert café spread over floors 1 to 3, a short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Worn out after a lot of walking on a hot day, the writer refuelled on the 3rd floor with an iced Americano, a black sesame latte, a sweet corn cheesecake and a choco pudding cookie. With a wide range of desserts and plenty of seating, Something About Coffee is a satisfying pick for anyone looking for a dessert café around Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station.

I visited Something About Coffee, a Sinnonhyeon Station café in Seoul and a Gangnam Station café with a huge dessert selection.

There are countless cafés around Gangnam Station, but I was looking for a place with lots of desserts and lots of cakes, and Something About Coffee also had plenty of seats, so I went! Okay, here's my review.
What is the 2nd floor of Something About Coffee like?
Something About Coffee is a short walk from Sinnonhyeon Station. The 2nd floor has the dessert display and the counter, with a slightly vintage feel and lots of tables. The moment you climb the stairs to the 2nd floor, you see the desserts and the register.

It's a slightly vintage space with plenty of tables to sit at, so it can handle a big crowd without any trouble.

The layout is really interesting: the tables are arranged in a U shape, and the seats in front of the big glass windows look great for chatting. The good seats were already taken, haha. There's an elegant chandelier overhead that makes the vintage space feel a little more upscale!

The 2nd-floor outdoor terrace
Next to the dessert area on the 2nd floor there's a small outdoor terrace. I saw a door and, being too curious to hold back, opened it and stepped right out. It's small, but it has a little forest feel, so it looks like a nice spot for coffee and a chat on a nice day or when a cool breeze is blowing.

How do the 3rd-floor seats differ from the 2nd floor?
The 3rd floor has more seats and is bigger than the 2nd. If the 2nd floor is white vintage, the 3rd is wood vintage. After ordering we headed up to the 3rd floor because we wanted more space, and there were plenty of seats to choose from.
The tables are mostly round, which might have felt small on their own, but they'd pushed two together, so it worked well for two people!
Tray return, restroom and Wi-Fi at Something About Coffee
- Don't leave your tray on the 3rd floor when you finish; bring it down to the 2nd floor.
- The restroom is on the 3rd floor, so it was nice to be able to come and go easily, haha.
- The Wi-Fi info is on the wall, so check it and connect! Be careful to type the letters and numbers in the middle correctly.
What drinks and desserts does Something About Coffee serve?
Something About Coffee has a wide range of coffees, decaf drinks for people who can't have caffeine, and you can even swap the coffee beans! Desserts run from cookies, scones and financiers to several kinds of cheesecake and sando (fruit sandwiches).

Besides cookies, scones and financiers, there was aged-cheddar-style yellow cheese cheesecake, pistachio matcha cheesecake, peach cheesecake, double vanilla cheesecake, sweet corn cheesecake, pistachio raspberry gâteau, mango sando and fruit sando. Unlike the cafés I usually go to, the range was so wide that I fell into a happy dilemma over what to eat, hahaha.
What to order at a Sinnonhyeon café on a hot day
At Something About Coffee I ordered an iced Americano, a black sesame latte, a sweet corn cheesecake and a choco pudding cookie.

It was really hot that day, so I ordered an iced Americano to cool my throat and my all-time favorite, the black sesame latte. Then the sweet corn cake and the choco pudding cookie too! Don't they look so tempting? Haha. If you're looking for a Sinnonhyeon Station café, this is the place~~ Getting everything together for one photo made me strangely proud.

We'd walked around so much that day and were exhausted, but the sweet cake and cookie wiped the tiredness right away. A proper sugar recharge. We just wolfed it all down...

How does the sweet corn cheesecake taste?
The sweet corn cheesecake at Something About Coffee pairs a dense, rich cheesecake with a crispy streusel topping (soboro) and crunchy sweet corn, and I loved the combination. It isn't too sweet, with a mild, nutty flavor that suited our taste perfectly. The color is easy on the eyes, so it had already passed before I even ate it. Our little secret.

How does the choco pudding cookie taste?
Cut the choco pudding cookie in half and it's generously filled with creamy chocolate cream. The outside was less crisp and more like a dense, fudgy brownie, I think! A plain chocolate cookie would have tasted like the ordinary ones we all know, but I was excited for this one because it's called pudding. It also went fine with the salty-sweet black sesame latte.
If you're looking for a Sinnonhyeon Station café or a Gangnam Station café for desserts, you'll be happy with the variety at Something About Coffee.
