Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch (금등어 들안길 본점) is a Korean restaurant on Deuran-ro in Suseong, Daegu, specialising in oven-grilled mackerel. The writer brought kids who had barely been eating in the summer heat for dinner of oven-grilled mackerel (₩19,000 per person), spicy pork stir-fry (₩20,000 per person), self-serve side dishes and spinach doenjang soup, and the kids each cleared a full bowl of rice. For a family dinner when summer has killed everyone's appetite, Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is worth recommending.

Daegu cold noodle shop in a 38.8°C heatwave: Golmok Naengmyeon 1966

Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu (골목냉면1966 대구점) is a Seoul-style naengmyeon (cold noodle) restaurant with seafood broth on Deuran-gil in Suseong, Daegu. On a 38.8°C day, the writer arrived with the kids after 2 p.m., waited behind 4 groups, and ordered three extra-large bowls of naengmyeon and meat dumplings. Mul (cold broth) and bibim (spicy mixed) naengmyeon cost ₩10,000 each, and ₩1,000 more gets an extra-large bowl, which was plenty for two kids to share. Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is a good-value cold noodle spot worth recommending for its generous portions and reasonable prices.

Hwanggeum-dong Daegu Korean restaurant: seokgalbi and ₩5,000 bibimbap

Banwoldang Buja Sikdang Suseong Branch is a fire-grilled Korean restaurant at 22 Beomeocheon-ro in Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong, Daegu. A family of four, including two kids, had buja seokgalbi (grilled ribs on a hot stone plate) for dinner with the complimentary cheonggukjang doenjang stew (fermented soybean stew). The kids ate black rice, the parents added ₩5,000 bibimbap, and the ssam vegetables for wraps were refilled for free at the self-serve bar. Seobu Bus Terminal home-style Korean meal with kids: Cafe Dongi

Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch is a home-style Korean restaurant near Seobu Bus Terminal in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu.
