Nowon tuna restaurant: one-serving takeout at Kim Yonghui Tuna
In short
Kim Yonghui Tuna (김용희참치) is a tuna restaurant right in front of Taereung Station in Nowon, Seoul, that packs tuna sashimi to go by the single serving. The writer took home one serving of gandan anju (simple tuna drinking-snack platter) and one of teuk gandan anju (premium platter). Kim Yonghui Tuna also packed separate vegetables for a tuna sashimi rice bowl, and that rice bowl, finished with one packet of instant rice, was the highlight. Go in for value rather than high expectations, and Kim Yonghui Tuna makes a perfectly good tuna spot for drinking solo at home.

Single-serving tuna takeout by Taereung Station: Kim Yonghui Tuna
Kim Yonghui Tuna (김용희참치) is a tuna restaurant near Taereung Station where you can take out tuna by the single serving. I wanted tuna for dinner at home, went looking for places that do takeout, heard about one that sells single servings, and so I headed over to Kim Yonghui Tuna :)
Honestly, I read some reviews before going, and they were a mix of good and bad, so I hesitated a little. To give you the conclusion first: it was fine for a casual meal.
Where is Kim Yonghui Tuna, and is there parking?
Kim Yonghui Tuna is at 3 Dongil-ro 176-gil, Nowon-gu, Seoul, right in front of Taereung Station. It's basically next to the station, so it's easy to find. I used to go to a clinic around here, so the area was familiar and I found it quickly. Even if it's your first time, you won't have trouble with a map.
There's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to use a nearby parking lot.

Look toward the start of the alley from the main road and the Kim Yonghui Tuna sign jumps right out at you.

The sign carries the owner's own name, so you can sense a bit of confidence there.

I'd planned to go in the evening, but the forecast said rain, so I went at lunchtime instead. (And of course it never rained...)
Inside Kim Yonghui Tuna: the private rooms

The inside feels like a typical tuna restaurant. It was just after the lunch rush, so it felt a little unsettled, but overall it was fairly clean.

There are also private rooms in the back, usable from 2 people up to groups. It didn't look bad for a get-together or a company dinner either.
Kim Yonghui Tuna menu prices and takeout charge

Tuna is the main thing on the menu, and per serving it ranges from the ₩20,000s to the ₩100,000s. If you just want something light to go with drinks, the ₩20,000s is plenty, and if you want better cuts, you can go up in price!
Takeout costs slightly more than dining in, as a kind of takeout fee, so keep that in mind.

I ordered for two people: one serving of gandan anju (basic tuna set) and one serving of teuk gandan anju (premium tuna set), each packed separately.
What comes in a one-serving tuna sashimi takeout?

The takeout set is better than I expected. It's not just tuna: they also pack everything for a tuna rice bowl separately, so it's set up perfectly for eating at home.
Premium platter (teuk gandan anju) vs. simple platter (gandan anju)

The premium set definitely has slightly better cuts than the basic set.

They look similar from the outside, but you can taste the difference once you eat. The premium set was a bit softer and went down more smoothly.
The amount isn't small for a single serving either, so it wasn't bad for the price.
The basic set is a bit simpler. At the ₩20,000s you shouldn't expect too much, but it still had a decent amount of fat and was on the soft side.

The texture changes by cut too, some mushy, some chewy, so it's fun to eat your way through the variety.

Personally, wrapping the tuna in seaweed (gim) was my favorite way to eat it!

The side dishes that come with it are simple, and honestly tuna with just seaweed is enough.
The tuna sashimi rice bowl kit packed with the takeout

And the best part was the tuna rice bowl (chamchi hoedeopbap)! The takeout includes vegetables too, so you only need to add rice and you can eat right away.

I microwaved a packet of instant rice (Hetbahn) and had it as a finisher, and it was actually the most satisfying part!
Who is Kim Yonghui Tuna best for?

Kim Yonghui Tuna is a comfortable choice when you want some light tuna to go with drinks. Single-serving takeout is available and the set isn't bad, so it's good for a solo drink or a simple meal at home!
Don't go in with huge expectations; treat it as a good-value spot and you should be plenty satisfied :)
