In October 2026, over the holiday, I visited Bandalseom in Ansan. I walked around Bandalseom Culture Park and enjoyed the cool sea breeze. While out on a date there, I found a sashimi restaurant with great value. Eochongye 1beonji (어촌계1번지) is easy to reach from Bandalseom, parking is convenient, and the outdoor seating makes for a great atmosphere! Let's enjoy Bandalseom with some fresh sashimi~

What's on the menu at Eochongye 1beonji?

Eochongye 1beonji is a Bandalseom sashimi restaurant where you can eat many kinds of fish raw: seasonal assorted sashimi, salmon, red snapper, flounder, small flounder (dodari), mullet, rockfish and more. Besides sashimi, there are cold raw-fish soup (mulhoe), seasoned dishes, fried dishes, grilled dishes, stews and other seafood, so people of all ages can enjoy delicious Japanese-style sashimi to their own taste.

Is the small seasonal sashimi platter enough for two?

What we ordered at Eochongye 1beonji was the small seasonal sashimi platter, spicy fish-bone stew, and sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes). We usually go for rockfish sashimi, but we wanted red snapper and a taste of several kinds of fish, so after some deliberation we went with the seasonal platter.

A neat table setting. The salad was so good that we got a refill, haha. You can request what you need from the kiosk on the table, which was convenient.

Red snapper, flounder and mullet sashimi that looked fresh at a glance came out. Is this really the small size? That's how generous the portion was. We're the kind of people who usually eat 1kg of sashimi each, lol, so it passes on quantity! And the price is kind too, so no wonder locals near Bandalseom and tourists like us all come...

How the sashimi tastes, and sauce combinations

The texture was something special from the very first piece, and then I understood why. They only use fresh fish brought in from Incheon the same day, which is how the mouthfeel can be this good. Four sauces come out: fresh wasabi, shiitake wasabi, red chili paste (chojang) and a special soybean paste (makjang). Whichever way you combine them, they go perfectly with fresh sashimi.

First, a feast for the eyes~

I put just a little wasabi on the red snapper and ate it as it was. The nutty flavor rises the more you chew. This is the real deal!! With the seasonal platter, red snapper included, being such good value, whenever I come to Ansan I have to stop at Eochongye 1beonji for a plate of sashimi~ White kimchi, chojang, soy sauce, shiitake wasabi, any combination made my mouth happy.

I love thick-cut sashimi, where the longer you chew, the more of the fish's own flavor comes through, and Eochongye 1beonji's cuts gave me just the right thickness and texture, so I was happy the whole meal.

Spicy fish-bone stew with sujebi, and leftover sashimi as shabu-shabu

Once you've happily worked through the sashimi at Eochongye 1beonji, the spicy fish-bone stew you ordered as your meal arrives. It's huge and packed with ingredients.

The longer a spicy stew (maeuntang) simmers, the deeper the flavor! Steamed rice is great, ramen noodles are great too! We chose sujebi. We were already stuffed from so much sashimi, so we finished with sujebi~

The chewy sujebi went well with the tangy, spicy stew, and the shabu-shabu made with leftover sashimi was delicious too. Picking the meat off the bones in the fish-bone stew was also quite fun. I liked that you can enjoy this much sashimi at such a kind price. That's probably why Eochongye 1beonji is so popular, right?
