Gyodae gimbap shop: kid's park lunch in a name-tagged box, Halls
In short
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a black rice gimbap (seaweed rice roll) shop near Exit 1 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul, reopened by the owner of the former O-to Gimbap Seocho with the same taste. On a Saturday, the writer picked up an early lunch to go of Halls Gimbap (6,000 won), Jindo Scallion Tuna Gimbap (7,000 won) and Double Cheese Egg Gimbap (7,000 won) and ate it as a park picnic with their child, pleased by the name-tagged 3-tier box and the generously filled rolls. Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a Gyodae gimbap shop that works well for both a solo meal and a picnic lunch to go.

A healthy, tasty keto-style gimbap (seaweed rice roll) place I can recommend! This is my review of Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점), a Gyodae gimbap spot that's great for eating alone and also great for boxing up a picnic lunch ♡
Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch and what are its hours?

Halls Gimbap Main Branch is close to Exit 1 of Gyodae Station! It's open 8:00 to 20:00 on weekdays (break time 15:00-16:00) and 8:00 to 15:00 on Saturdays, and closed every Sunday.
It's been a famous Gyodae gimbap place for a long time, so it gets busy at peak hours, and there can be a wait! I went early on a Saturday for lunch, and takeout was relatively relaxed.

Is it the same place as the former O-to Gimbap Seocho?
I heard the former O-to Gimbap Seocho reopened as Halls Gimbap Main Branch with the same taste and care as before! The owner, the staff, the seasoning, the flavor, the cooking tools, the freshness, all of it is said to be the same, so if you liked O-to Gimbap Seocho, you can head to Halls Gimbap Main Branch with confidence~~
Halls Gimbap Main Branch menu and what I ordered

You order at a kiosk, and the kiosk had far more menu items than the printed menu board. There are lots of half-and-half options too, which I loved. There are also plenty of cup ramen choices that go well with gimbap~~ And it's famous for its dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) too.^^
- Halls Gimbap ₩6,000
- Double Cheese Egg Gimbap ₩7,000
- Jindo Scallion Tuna Gimbap ₩7,000
I ordered takeout to eat as a picnic lunch in the park!
Is the shop good for eating alone?

The shop looked like a great Gyodae spot for a solo meal! And a terrace table would be a fun way to get a picnic mood going.^^

They also have the little extras for people dining in well stocked! It's a Gyodae Station restaurant where you can eat comfortably~

There happened to be a group order when I was there! It looked like a good option for group lunch boxes in Gyodae too.
How long does takeout take, and how does it come?

With that group order going, I thought takeout would take ages, but it came out really fast!! The short wait made it even better.^^

Takeout at Halls Gimbap Main Branch isn't just rolled up carelessly in foil. The box is neat, and I loved that they carefully put a name label on every single item! You can carry it just like this and head out on a picnic ♡

We opened our lunch box in the park ♡ and the rolls were stacked neatly in 3 tiers! They're thick and fairly large, so there was plenty of food.

The colors were so pretty too! There's less rice and more filling, so it feels even healthier and tastier. And the rice isn't plain white rice but black rice, which made me even happier.^^
How does Halls Gimbap taste? A slightly spicy fish cake roll

Halls Gimbap (₩6,000) is the signature roll of Halls Gimbap Main Branch, with slightly spicy fish cake inside. Let's start with it, so prettily colored and rolled so firmly!! The fresh taste of the vegetables with a little heat on top gives it an odd charm.^^ The crunchy texture was great and it tasted fresh.
Is the Jindo Scallion Tuna Gimbap at ₩7,000 worth it?

The Jindo Scallion Tuna Gimbap here is packed with tuna, no holding back! At ₩7,000 a roll it's on the pricey side, but once I saw what went inside, it made sense~~ Seriously, it's loaded!! Nothing was spared.
Tuna and scallion was an unfamiliar combo, so I was curious, and the scent and texture of scallion here and there gave it a unique charm that felt new~~ The satisfaction of all that tuna was high too!
Double Cheese Egg Gimbap, great for eating with kids

The last item was the Double Cheese Egg Gimbap (₩7,000), which I ordered to share with my child! I was surprised by how crammed with egg it was. It tastes as soft and tender as it looks. Nothing sharp or strong, so it's just right for kids ♡
It's fairly big, though, so you'd need to cut it up for toddlers. haha For elementary school age and up, it was just right~~~
Overall verdict on Halls Gimbap Main Branch
I recommend Halls Gimbap Main Branch, a healthy, tasty Gyodae gimbap spot! It's good for eating alone and good for takeout~~ I'd also recommend it as a Gyodae lunch place for office workers!!
