Don't you sometimes crave conveyor sushi so badly?🍣 I love sushi anyway! But my favorite conveyor sushi place, Sushi Maiu (스시마이우), which has been in the Blue Ribbon guide and on the TV show Wednesday Foodie Talk (수요미식회) at the Gangnam Express Bus Terminal branch, also has a Seolleung branch, so I stopped by while I was nearby. You get good-quality sushi until you're full without overspending, so it's perfect if you're looking for a good place to eat near Seolleung Station! I'll leave the full review below 🤍

Is there a wait at Sushi Maiu at weekend lunchtime?

When I went to Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch at around 1 pm on a weekend, I got in right away with no wait. But the weekday lunch special is such good value that you should expect a wait during the weekday office lunch rush.

I visited around 1 pm on a weekend and luckily walked straight in with no wait. But the lunch special is such a bargain that this Seolleung Station favorite definitely has a wait at weekday office-worker lunchtime! Still, turnover is fast, so seats open up quickly.

Can you order sushi that isn't on the conveyor belt?

Just grab what you like from the conveyor, and if something isn't on it, look at the menu and ask, and they'll make it fresh on the spot 🫶🏻

Top pick: garlic cheese shrimp egg sushi

The first thing I grabbed at Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch was the shrimp egg sushi. It's a plump shrimp on fluffy egg, torched for a smoky flavor and sprinkled with garlic cheese powder, and it was so good I ate 2.

The egg you get at sushi places is so sweet and delicious, right? A plump shrimp sits on sweet, fluffy egg with a torched smoky flavor, and then garlic cheese powder is sprinkled on top. So good! I ate 2 of them.. 🤤

Totally recommend this one!

Aged kimchi and live fish sushi with perilla oil

After something sweet I wanted something refreshing, so I chose the aged kimchi live fish sushi (mugeunji hwalo chobap). The white fish was fresh and firm, and the aged kimchi was drizzled with nutty perilla oil.

The crunchy aged kimchi and the chewy live fish went together so well and tasted great! I recommend this one too.

Fish steak sushi with garlic cheese sauce

The fish steak sushi is piled with garlic cheese sauce and garlic flakes. True to the name steak, the surface of the fish is cooked before it's served 🐟

Thanks to the torch it has a smoky flavor, plus that sweet garlic cheese sauce! The sauce was so good.

Wagyu sushi, ordered separately

The wagyu sushi wasn't on the conveyor; I ordered it separately, and it was torched with a great smoky flavor. I'm the kind of person who has to eat meat sushi whenever I go to a sushi place 🫣

The wagyu was tender and delicious, and the sweet teriyaki-style sauce was good too.

Salmon belly sushi instead of regular salmon

Salmon is my favorite, and this time I specially ordered the belly cut separately instead of regular salmon 🤍 Being belly, it was rich and fatty with way more flavor, and the nutty taste as you chew was great!

I enjoyed it so much.

Finishing with red sea bream sushi

For the last one I picked red sea bream (chamdom) sushi! I'd eaten plenty of torched ones, so I finished with this clean white fish 🌊

It had a chewy bite, with no fishy taste, clean and mild, so it was an excellent way to finish.
