Tenderloin and cheese cutlet udon sets in Dongtan Mokdong: Kkot Gatsu

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a Japanese-style pork cutlet restaurant in Dongtan Mokdong, Hwaseong, that fries aged Korean pork. On a weekday visit at 1pm, the tenderloin cutlet and the cheese cutlet each came as a suudong (plain udon) set, eaten with self-serve pickled chili plus wasabi, lemon salt and cumin. There was no wait on arrival, though three more parties queued up soon after, and the cutlets at Kkot Gatsu stayed light to the last bite despite being deep-fried.

Yeouido IFC Mall Korean restaurant mushroom gangjeong: Modam Urban

Modam Urban is a fusion Korean restaurant in IFC Mall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, where ordering a main brings six appetizers plus whole-grain rice, soup and side dishes. Over a meal with a friend, Modam Urban served spicy mushroom gangjeong (sweet-and-spicy fried mushrooms), mushroom pyeonyuk (sliced pressed meat) with truffle chamnamul (aster greens), today's clay pot rice, handmade tteokgalbi (short rib patties) and grilled abalone, and IFC Mall parking is free for 3 hours, so shopping after lunch is easy. With private rooms for family introductions and group meals, Modam Urban is a solid pick for a Korean meal with friends in Yeouido.
