Poke bowl spot by Seolleung Station: thick-cut extra salmon, Hola Poke

In short

Hola Poke Seolleung Branch (올라포케 선릉점) is a salad and poke restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in the food alley near Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. On a second visit this year, the writer checked the calorie chart above the kiosk, chose the raw salmon poke over the Super Protein poke, added extra salmon and went half brown rice with oats, half vegetables. With salmon cut as thick as at a sashimi restaurant and about 40 seats, Hola Poke Seolleung Branch made a satisfying solo lunch in Seolleung.

How to get to Hola Poke from Seolleung Station

Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is an 8-minute walk from Seolleung Station. Once you turn into the food alley, it's on the 2nd floor of a building. This is my second visit this year to this Seolleung salad and poke spot! It stands out, so it's easy to find haha

The inside is bigger than it looks from outside, and I'd guess it seats about 40 haha Lots of poke places are surprisingly cramped, but with this many seats you probably won't get turned away even at the busy lunch rush!

What are the menu and prices at Hola Poke?

Ordering kiosk at Hola Poke Seolleung Branch

You order at the kiosk haha

Hola Poke menu board with poke and custom wraps

The meals are poke and custom wraps, and poke starts at ₩11,000. You can add soup as a side, and there are set options too haha

Poke prices seem to climb by the day, which is sad,, but Hola Poke has bowls from ₩11,000!! Even with meat like smoked duck and chicken breast, that's a very kind price for a poke shop, I think :)

Can you choose the ratio of brown-oat rice to vegetables?

Yes. At Hola Poke Seolleung Branch you can fine-tune the oat brown rice to vegetable ratio: 0:100, 30:70, 50:50, 70:30 and so on. What set it apart from other poke shops is exactly this variety of ratio options!!!👍👍

I was really hungry that day, so for fullness I went half vegetables, half brown-oat rice😉 I ordered the raw salmon poke with extra salmon and picked the recommended dressing! You can choose your dressing too haha

Why I changed my order after seeing the calorie chart

Poke calorie and nutrition chart above the kiosk
Calorie chart for toppings and dressings

Above the kiosk, Hola Poke Seolleung Branch posts calorie and nutrition charts for each poke, topping and dressing. I love this!!!! People who come for poke may not be strict dieters, but a lot of them care about nutrition and calories, so I think this helps with choosing.

I was going to get the Super Protein poke too, but the fat and calories were higher than I expected, so I switched to raw salmon!! lol If you pick your dressing by its calories, you can also save 50 calories or more.

What's at the self bar?

At the self corner you grab your own spoon and fork, and there are sesame dressing and yuja (citron) dressing out too!! They're fairly mild and go with any poke, so I think that's why they keep them there!! Nice touch

Raw salmon poke with extra salmon and sriracha mayo: how does it taste?

Raw salmon poke with extra salmon and sriracha mayo
Raw salmon poke piled with big pieces of salmon

With one extra portion of salmon, the raw salmon poke clearly had big, generous pieces of salmon at first glance. Here comes my raw salmon poke!!!!! hahaha The recommended dressing for it was sriracha mayo!

Seaweed vinegar salad and pickled beet radish in the raw salmon poke
Raw salmon poke with half brown-oat rice, half vegetables

With this much raw fish it can get heavy, but the seaweed vinegar salad and thin pickled beet radish balance it out freshly. The brown-oat rice has a good ratio of brown rice to oats, so it's easy to chew and I loved it. You get a healthy texture with no undercooked grains. The pineapple that pops up here and there goes really well with the salmon too haha

A thick-cut piece of salmon from the raw salmon poke

I love poke and almost only eat salmon poke, but I've never seen it cut this thick,,, I'd honestly believe it was salmon from a sashimi restaurant,,

It fully recharged my salmon craving to 100%. As I ate, I found even more fish under the vegetables!

Is Hola Poke good for eating alone near Seolleung Station?

Yes. Hola Poke Seolleung Branch has bar-style seats and plenty of 2-person tables, so it's great for solo meals. Maybe because it's in an alley full of Seolleung offices, there were lots of good solo seats, and it was an easy, light poke lunch alone😋
