TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch is an indoor camping barbecue spot in a basement near Hongdae's main street in Mapo, Seoul. With a ₩40,000 TV-seat table, the order was two servings of fresh pork belly, beef brisket doenjang (soybean paste) stew and a fried rice set, all cooked on a tabletop grill and finished with fried rice made with spicy canned tuna and Gwangcheon seaweed. Myeongdong jokbal restaurant with a free olive-cheese salad: Miss

Miss Jokbal Seoul Myeongdong Branch is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) restaurant in a Myeongdong alley near Euljiro 1-ga Station in Seoul. An order of the original jokbal medium platter with steamed egg and rice balls came with a free kimchi kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) boiled at the table on a burner and a free salad topped with olives and cheese. One platter of jokbal at Miss Jokbal turns into a generous full meal once all the free sides arrive.

Hamdeok black pork restaurant, staff-grilled Jocha Set: Jeju Samchun

Jeju Samchun is a low-temperature-aged black pork grill house right next to Hamdeok Beach in Jeju. After a 20-minute wait on a weekday evening, we ordered the Jocha Set — 500g of pork neck and thick-cut pork belly — which the staff grilled from start to finish, and a serving of nape cut (deungsim deotsal) arrived partway through. Jeju Samchun makes an easy choice for dinner on the first night of a Jeju trip.
