Junggye-dong shabu-shabu lunch steamed in cypress: Hana Shabu Shabu
Hana Shabu Shabu Junggye Main Branch is a Japanese-style shabu-shabu restaurant in Junggye-dong, Nowon, Seoul, serving seiro-mushi — beef and vegetables steamed in a cypress steamer. The seiro-mushi lunch special arrived with an hourglass timer to mark the steaming time, and the owner torch-seared beef tadaki right at the table while the writer waited. With bean sprouts and vegetables piled generously under the meat, the spread at Hana Shabu Shabu tasted mild enough to finish down to the last bite.
