Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch: a sushi buffet with far more than sushi
Enjoying a bit of everything. I wanted to eat sushi but also try a variety of other dishes, so I headed over to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch.
It's known as a sushi buffet, but once I got there, I found there was so much more than sushi on offer. Since everyone in a family has different tastes, this makes a great spot for a Nowon family gathering restaurant where everyone can pick what they like.
Where is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch? 6th floor, Seoul Oncheon Building
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch sits on the 6th floor of Seoul Oncheon Building. Once you're inside the building and reach the 6th floor, a bright yellow storefront entrance catches your eye. The entrance area is spacious too, so even as a first-time visitor, I had no trouble finding the place.

The notice banners outside the entrance
At the entrance there were banners introducing prices, hours, and special menu items. You can check the details and get a preview of what's inside before you even walk in.

Inside Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch: wide, comfortable seating
Walking inside, it was brighter, roomier, and cleaner than I expected. The food stations and seating were generously spaced, making it easy to browse comfortably.

There were window seats along with tables of various sizes, making it a good fit for family dinners as well as larger groups. It would also suit anyone looking for a group dinner spot in Nowon.

The food stations, from sushi and rolls to BBQ and dessert
Food everywhere you look. Browsing the food stations, I found sushi and rolls, of course, but also salad, hot dishes, BBQ, and dessert — the variety was huge.

Not only was the food varied, everything looked well-maintained, which made it easy to pick things without hesitation.

Plate one: salmon nigiri, shrimp nigiri, rolls and gunkan
Time to eat! Since I came for a Nowon sushi buffet, I loaded up my first plate generously with sushi. I picked one of each of my favorites: salmon nigiri, shrimp nigiri, rolls, and gunkan (battleship sushi).
There was a great variety and the ingredients felt fresh, so even the first plate was thoroughly enjoyable.

Salmon and tuna sashimi: fresh for a buffet
My next plate had salmon, tuna, and salad together. Pairing fresh vegetables with sashimi made it feel even lighter.
The thickly sliced salmon was soft and rich, while the tuna was clean-tasting and kept me reaching for more. Even as buffet sashimi, it was fresh with a solid level of quality — very satisfying.

Grilled oyster BBQ: warm oysters with sauce and toppings
The warm grilled oyster BBQ was impossible to pass up. Plump oysters topped with sauce and toppings delivered a rich, savory flavor.

I really liked that beyond sushi, you could enjoy seafood dishes like this too.
Soup en croute: cracking open the pastry lid
Inside a crisply baked pastry shell was a warm soup filling. Cracking open the top and eating it together with the soup gave a great mix of crunch and softness.

It looked impressive and was fun to eat — a memorable dish.
Clams steamed in rice wine: a palate-cleansing broth mid-meal
After a run of different dishes, I craved something warm and brothy, so I grabbed the clam soup. The clean brininess of the clams came through in the broth, tasting clean and light.

Sipping it between courses refreshed my palate and made it easier to keep going.
Shrimp dishes you pick yourself
As a shrimp lover, I made sure not to skip the various shrimp dishes. Each preparation and sauce gave a different flavor, which made comparing them plate by plate a lot of fun.

From sushi to shrimp dishes, the seafood lineup was so plentiful I wanted to recommend it to anyone hunting for good food in Nowon.
Fruit and dessert: crepe cake, fruit jelly and coffee
When I started feeling full, I cleansed my palate with some refreshing fruit. For dessert, I brought over a soft crepe cake along with colorful fruit jelly.

The crepe cake was moist and soft, and the fruit jelly was bouncy and refreshing — they paired well together. I finished with a warm cup of coffee, wrapping up the hearty meal at a relaxed pace.

Was nine plates at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch worth it?
