Why we went back to Hansang Charyim Bapsang Sinseol-dong
Hansang Charyim Bapsang Sinseol-dong (한상차림밥상 신설동) is a Korean restaurant near Sinseoldong Station where you can eat bossam (boiled pork wraps), lots of side dishes and a stew all as one table. My husband and I finished a hand car wash on the weekend and stopped by for the first time in a while.

We visited about 2 years ago when we came to Sinseoldong, and I remembered it being great value: plenty of side dishes, bossam and stew all together. So for my husband, who worked hard on that car wash, I wanted a hearty full table again :)

Is there a wait on weekend evenings?
Luckily, on a weekend evening we got in quickly with no wait.

I remember a pretty long wait when I came on a weekend lunch before, so if you're coming at lunchtime, I'd recommend leaving yourself plenty of time!

Can you order bossam if you dine alone?
Hansang Charyim Bapsang Sinseol-dong requires one order per person! If you visit alone, you can order the 1-person bossam set (8-dish tray + bossam kimchi + bossam + doenjang-jjigae).

How does the Hansang Bossam Set pork taste?
Order the Hansang Bossam Set and the table fills up with bossam and 23 side dishes.

First came the main dish, the bossam, glistening with shine.

Eaten with the vegetables, bossam kimchi, seasoned dried radish and so on, the bossam was so good!

What comes in the 23 side dishes?
The side dishes in the Hansang Bossam Set came in a really wide variety.

There were lots of sides you can wrap with the bossam, like ssammu (pickled radish wraps), pickled cucumber peppers, myeongi namul (pickled ramp greens) and seasoned crab.

Cabbage, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), seasoned bracken and shredded dried squid too. The seasoning wasn't harsh, and the portions were neither too much nor too little, set just right for 2 people.

There were also broccoli, quail eggs, seasoned garlic chives and seasoned bean sprouts. The number of sides seems to match the number of diners, haha. If there are side dishes you won't eat, it's best to have them taken away before you start! We eat everything, so we tried all of them.

Braised lotus root, seasoned garlic scapes, seasoned fish cake, corn salad, pickled perilla leaves and more. The sides seem to change slightly by season, too!

Lettuce, napa cabbage and salad: the vegetables to eat with the meat were fresh and varied too.

Doenjang-jjigae served with the bossam set
The Hansang Bossam Set also comes with a nutty doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), so it really feels like a proper Korean meal on one table!

The stew, with tofu, zucchini and more, was nutty and tasty.

Hansang Charyim Bapsang Sinseol-dong 2 years later: verdict
I went to this Sinseoldong spot for bossam after a long time, and I loved that you can eat a truly full spread of Korean food! If you want a proper Korean meal with lots of side dishes, I recommend dropping by :)
