Guwol-dong ramen with coriander left out of mala broth: Menya Seoul

Hi everyone, it's mala-lover Jyejye :) I usually eat healthy, mild food and try to keep a clean diet, but once a month there's a period when I crave something insanely spicy without fail. That's when I go hunting for mala tang or spicy tteokbokki, and this time the mala dongpo pork ramen at Menya Seoul, a ramen spot in Guwol-dong, caught my eye — so I added a soft ajitama (soft-boiled seasoned egg) on top and enjoyed the whole thing!

What kind of ramen shop is Menya Seoul in Guwol-dong?

Menya Seoul is a ramen spot in Guwol-dong known for its spicy-savory broth, chewy noodles, and a range of toppings — thick, umami-packed dongpo pork char siu, jambon, lamb skewer, and nutty ajitama — so you can build a bowl to your taste. You can also mix in side dishes like karaage (Japanese fried chicken), crispy gyoza, or chicken rice bowl for a filling meal.

Personally, I'd always recommend adding the ajitama, haha.

As the only Incheon location of the popular ramen chain Menya Seoul, it's an easy, comfortable spot to try a variety of menu items.

Menya Seoul menu: the mala broth comes with coriander

Menya Seoul offers three broth types: mild, spicy, and mala. The mala broth comes with coriander included by default, so if you dislike coriander like me, you need to ask them to leave it out when ordering :) The base is a light broth simmered for 8 hours with dongpo pork char siu and jambon char siu! For meat you can choose dongpo pork, jambon char siu, or lamb skewer — I actually wanted the lamb skewer, but it was sold out, so I went with dongpo pork instead, and it was still delicious, haha.

Menya Seoul also had summer new menu items like king shrimp cold ramen and whole pork belly mazesoba, but I was craving something spicy and hot, so I passed on those this time.

Thanks to the review event, you can add one ajitama egg for free, so definitely try it, haha. Personally I found the broth on the salty side, so I didn't add lemon kelp vinegar or chili oil, but I think those would suit anyone who orders the mild broth well.

Coca-Cola scratch card event with every set order

How did the mala broth dongpo pork ramen taste?

Menya Seoul brings out a flavor Koreans love — chewy noodles in a spicy-savory mala broth with a hint of garlic worked in. The dongpo pork and jambon had a deep meaty flavor, and the soft, nutty ajitama was so good I just inhaled it all.

This is a ramen spot in Guwol-dong, Incheon, with an addictive quality that makes me want to come back once a month without fail. I highly recommend the dongpo pork mala ramen — you can enjoy it with great value sides in the clean, comfortable food hall of Lotte Department Store!

You can tell how much I enjoyed it from the plate I cleared in just 20 minutes flat, haha. The karaage was bite-sized, so it was easy to eat plenty without feeling too heavy.
