Hey Jinny is a wine bar and cooking pub on the second floor at 7 Euljiro12-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, near Euljiro 3-ga. On a Wednesday after work, two glasses of white wine came with Osaka niboshi shrimp oil pasta, homemade fondue gnocchi and crispy eggplant with a Sichuan-pepper kick, and all three delivered on both looks and flavour. For anyone who wants to talk quietly over a drink in noisy Euljiro, Hey Jinny works well for a date or a first meeting.

Sokcho solo breakfast ramen with bottled cola: Ichiba Ramen

Ichiba Ramen is a ramen restaurant at 348 Jungang-ro in Sokcho, Gangwon that opens at 9am, having relocated from near Sokcho Market toward Yeongnangho Lake. For a morning hangover cure the writer ordered karai ramen (spicy ramen) with 2 pieces of extra chashu and an egg, gara-age fried to order, and a bottled cola with a cup of ice. With plenty of solo-dining seats and even hair ties on every table, Ichiba Ramen is an easy breakfast stop for anyone traveling Sokcho alone.
