Sokcho Central Market bakery six-flavor financier box: Doris
In short
Doris Patisserie is a bakery with a pink sign inside Sokcho Central Market in Gangwon. A box of original egg tarts (15,000 won) and a box of financiers (18,000 won) were reserved by text and picked up, giving one of each of the six financier flavors, plus a complimentary egg tart eaten in the car — two, in the end. Crisp pastry, a vanilla-heavy filling and buttery financiers made Doris Patisserie worth the pickup stop.

Doris Patisserie always comes up as a must-visit Sokcho bakery, the kind of place people call a 'life egg tart.' I still remember shouting eureka the first time I tried it. On this trip to Sokcho I came back and loaded up on sugar without any regrets. It's such a popular egg tart spot that there's usually a wait, so I'd recommend reserving ahead.

The egg tart box as a Sokcho gift
The packaging is clean and pretty, so if you're weighing gift options in Sokcho, this is a great pick. Handing over a box makes both giver and receiver happy, I'd bet.

How long do Doris Patisserie egg tarts keep?
They taste best the same day, but in my experience, even pulled straight from the fridge they were soft and delicious, almost like ice cream. Room temperature keeps them good for the day, fridge for 2 days, and freezer for up to 2 weeks — so if you can't eat them right away, I'd recommend freezing.

If you join their review event, they'll give you complimentary egg tarts and financiers, so don't miss out.
Tasting the 15,000-won box of original egg tarts
This time at Doris Patisserie I ordered a box of original egg tarts (₩15,000), a box of financiers (₩18,000), and one extra egg tart (₩2,500).

Beautifully golden-baked egg tarts. I ordered all original this time, though the cream cheese one is also good — last time I picked cream cheese, so this time I went with original.

I couldn't resist the complimentary egg tart they gave me — lured in by the smell, I ate it right there in the car.

The crisp, layered pastry and the full, rich egg tart filling melted in my mouth.

Before I knew it, I'd eaten two of them in the car, bite by bite. The soft filling had no eggy smell at all — just deep, strong vanilla flavor.
What the six Doris Patisserie financier flavors taste like
The Doris Patisserie financier box comes with all six flavors, one of each.

I like both egg tarts and financiers, but I actually love financiers more — and wow, these are exactly my style.

That signature crackly-yet-fluffy financier texture is right there, with a deep buttery flavor. Eating them with coffee made it even better.

The chocolate financier had chocolate studded all through it, generous enough to bring both the texture and the rich chocolate flavor. This Sokcho bakery's life egg tart is a snack — and a gift — that adults and kids alike will love. If you're a dessert person, this Sokcho egg tart spot, Doris Patisserie, is worth the visit.
