Dog-friendly pork rib restaurant at Handaeap Station, Ansan: Suamgol

Here's Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul (수암골 쪽갈비마을) near Handaeap Station in Ansan, where I went for dinner with my boyfriend over the weekend. You can enjoy charcoal-grilled pork ribs (jjokgalbi) in several flavors, and everything comes already cooked, so there's no grilling yourself. Such an easy place to eat :)

Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul Hours and Parking

Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul Ansan Hanyang University Station Branch is on the ground floor at 370 Gwangdeok 1-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi. It's open from 4 pm to midnight and closed every Monday. Parking is available, dogs are allowed only at the outdoor seats, and Wi-Fi, delivery, takeout and reservations are all offered.

The building has an underground parking lot, so it's easy to visit by car too.

Getting There from Handaeap Station and the Dog-Friendly Outdoor Seats

The restaurant is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Handaeap Station, so public transport works well. The outdoor tables in front of the shop (called yajang, or outdoor dining) allow dogs, but the indoor seats don't.

It's only about 3 minutes on foot from Exit 2 of Handaeap Station, so you can get here easily by public transport!

There are outdoor tables in front of the shop, so you get that open-air dining vibe. Dogs are allowed at these seats, so we could relax over dinner in the cool evening breeze, haha.

Inside Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul

The interior is clean and homey, with plenty of tables, so it looked good for family dinners or group gatherings.

Side Dishes and the Self-Bar

The side dishes are scallion kimchi, pickled onions, macaroni salad and stir-fried fish cake, and you can refill whatever you run out of at the self-bar.

The self-bar, where you can refill sides freely, was kept neat, so it was easy to take just as much as we needed, haha.

Rib Flavors and Menu Prices

The ribs come in 5 flavors: salt, BBQ, garlic, spicy and crazy. This time we ordered BBQ ribs and spicy ribs (₩18,000 each), a nostalgic lunchbox (₩6,000) and soy sauce egg rice (₩5,000).

Soft tofu stew is free

When you order, you get soft tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae) free once! Even without ordering it separately, a hot stew arrives as a service, which felt like great value. It was full of soft tofu and nice for settling the stomach before the ribs came out.

How Do the BBQ and Spicy Ribs Taste?

The ribs come fully cooked, so we could eat right away without waiting. The meat was tender and juicy and came off the bone easily. The BBQ flavor was sweet and salty with a charcoal aroma that nobody would dislike, and the spicy one was a little less hot than Buldak ramen (Korean spicy instant noodles).

We tried two flavors, BBQ and spicy, and both arrived already grilled, so we could dig in without waiting! They looked so appetizing that I snapped photos first, then hurried to taste them one by one 😋

The meat itself was tender and juicy and slid right off the bone, so it was easy to eat. The BBQ flavor had a sweet and salty sauce that soaked well into the ribs, plus a charcoal aroma, so it's a flavor people of all ages can enjoy without any dislikes. The spicy one was a little less hot than Buldak ramen, a tasty kind of hot, so I think it would suit anyone who likes spicy food :)

Side Menu: Soy Sauce Egg Rice and the Nostalgic Lunchbox

The soy sauce egg rice (₩5,000) comes with a soft-boiled egg, butter and shredded seaweed on rice, and the nostalgic lunchbox (₩6,000) has old-style sausage, stir-fried kimchi, shredded seaweed and a fried egg. Both went well with the ribs.

The soy sauce egg rice we ordered had a soft-boiled egg, butter and shredded seaweed on top. When I popped the egg and mixed it all up, the nutty and salty flavors blended nicely, and it went really well with the ribs.

The nostalgic old-style lunchbox had old-style sausage, stir-fried kimchi, shredded seaweed and a fried egg. After mixing it well, each bite was nutty and savory, a hearty meal with a taste of childhood, haha.

When you leave after your meal, you get one free ice cream per person.

Who Is Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul Good For?

I loved being able to try ribs in different flavors at Suamgol Jjokgalbi Maeul near Handaeap Station. The ribs come fully cooked, so the meal is easy, and the outdoor seats allow dogs, which makes it a good place to visit with a pet. It's close to the station and easy to reach, so I definitely recommend a visit :)
