Gangnam jazz bar: weekday 6pm dinner and LAZYKUMA Quartet, Flat Nine

A rare weekday off, all to myself ✨ Movie or shopping? I wanted something different, so I went looking and found a place where you can eat and watch live jazz at the same time?! "Flat Nine, a Gangnam jazz bar." Left the baby with my husband and set up a weekday date with my sister instead ❤️

Flat Nine sits on the 5th floor of a building at 10 Gangnam-daero 65-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, open Mon-Thu 18:00-23:00 and Fri 18:00-23:00. You can check the lineup on their Instagram.

Reservation was for 6pm, so leaving work on time was non-negotiable! It's about 300m from Gangnam Station Exit 10, easy to find, and perfect for meeting my sister. Most places like this are usually in a basement, so I loved that this one is on the 5th floor — I loved everything about it honestly 😇 my free-woman day was gorgeous 😍

You can already see the day's lineup at the building entrance, and again right in front of the 5th-floor shop, so keep an eye out! Walked in with my heart racing 😆

Inside Flat Nine — stage and seats up close

Whoa......✨ the stage and the seats are this close?! I got instantly overwhelmed just seeing the space, thinking the live sound quality must be insane 🙊❤️ So gorgeous. Definitely bring your crush here — the vibe alone is an easy win, guaranteed

Book the 6pm dinner and get the front-row center seats

Bags and belongings go into a separate basket you set down. The show starts at 8pm, so I booked the 6pm dinner to eat with time to spare — good choice 🍀 landed the front-row center seat 👍 (recommend coming early). Every table has a tablet PC for easy ordering, and oh my... even lighting and hand cream at the table. So thoughtful ✨

Came recommended by a coworker, so I'd already decided on the Classic Course before arriving, ordered fast, and spent this time chatting with my sister — so happy 😆❤️

Welcome drink and amuse-bouche

The welcome drink ❤️ (berry sparkling aperitif) came out after the basic table setting. Berries (cranberry, raspberry) with mint and lemon made for a refreshing, sweet start!

Amuse-bouche (crispy pomme dauphine) — thin-sliced fried potato topped with lemon sauce and herbs! The shiso and chervil on top were a genius touch

Squid and melon carpaccio with bread

Seasonal salad & bread (squid and melon carpaccio) — the warm grilled focaccia with olive oil and balsamic sauce was, of course, delicious. Proud of myself for discovering a new flavor combo today! Melon and squid go together so well. The smoked squid with melon, pickled radish, and paprika sauce all lift the flavor even more >_< 👍👍 the smoky note cutting through the fresh salad hit hard — exactly my style 🩷

Mille-feuille lasagna

Pasta (mille-feuille lasagna) — a slightly fusion, more stylish take than a standard lasagna, haha. Really crispy, giving a nice punch to an otherwise gentle course! Detail that lives up to Gangnam's reputation for good pasta! Personally loved this a lot. Ragu sauce soaked moistly between the fresh pasta sheets, and the flavor was insane with every bite 😆

Angel's Rose Spritz and red sangria

Heard they're just as good with cocktails as with the welcome drink, so we ordered one Angel's Rose Spritz and one red sangria to enjoy lightly alongside the course. Poured so generously they were almost too heavy to lift 🙊❤️ so much love here......😆👍

Main: Jeju black pork tenderloin steak

Main dish (Jeju black pork tenderloin steak) — grilled over binchotan charcoal, the tenderloin was so tender it was easy to eat without any heaviness! Dipped it into the mango puree served alongside ✌️ the grilled king oyster mushroom garnish was so good I ate my sister's portion too, nyom nyom ❤️

Dessert: chocolate tiramisu

Wanted to save the dessert for last and go wander around the venue first! The back seats had such a great vibe too 🙊❤️ they even have a dedicated bartender who can whip up off-menu cocktails — the real deal has appeared 🙋‍♀️

Meanwhile, called a staff member over via the tablet to order dessert! Dessert (chocolate tiramisu) — just the right sweetness, in a rich, dense chocolate style, perfect for nibbling on with wine! Flat Nine nails dessert too — they take their food seriously, and it's a pass ❤️

8pm live show: the LAZYKUMA Quartet

Finally, the live jazz show started 💚💚 First time watching live jazz this close up, and even the instrument tuning looked so cool.... I was smitten....💛 It's not just a jazz bar — food, space, and music all come together, making it feel like a complex cultural space, and that made it even more meaningful. My sister and I were both hooked and lost track of time watching

Fine if it's your first time at a jazz bar?

Since it was my first time at a jazz bar, I thought it might feel unfamiliar, but the staff member guiding the show explained how to enjoy a jazz performance, so there was nothing to worry about! Basically just clap at certain points during the show — if you don't know when, just follow along 🙋‍♀️ but I caught myself swaying along, fully absorbed ✌️

Team LAZYKUMA's Quartet was amazing. Good things deserve a repeat! A place with such a great vibe near Gangnam Station! If you want dinner and a live show together, Flat Nine is a must 😍 had such a good time, I'll definitely come back the next time it's my free-woman day 🙋‍♀️✨
