In short

Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch (보승회관 마포역점) is a 24-hour gukbap (Korean rice soup) restaurant on a main road near Mapo Station in Seoul. On a monsoon-season weekday evening, the blogger ate alone and ordered the sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) set for one without dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste), which comes with a taster of sundae, head meat and suyuk (boiled pork), plus a generous ₩4,000 side of myeongtae hoe-muchim (spicy pollock salad). Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch is a filling, good-value choice for a solo gukbap meal, with bowls at about ₩11,000–13,000.

Bosseung Hoegwan is a gukbap (Korean rice soup) place near Mapo Station that's open 24 hours and fine for dining solo. I visited in July 2026.

In this muggy rainy season I couldn't be bothered to cook, and I wanted something hot! After some thinking, I went to Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch (보승회관 마포역점), a gukbap spot near Mapo Station I'd had my eye on for a while. I came home stuffed after a big rainy-evening dinner.

Where is Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch, and how late is it open?

Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch is on a main road close to Mapo Station, so it's very easy to get to. Because it's right on the big road, it's also a good place to meet up.

It's a 24-hour gukbap restaurant. It works for lunch or dinner, and on weekends it looks great for a second or third round of drinks! I went on a weekday evening, and while I ate, solo diners and families kept coming in, and delivery order alerts kept going off. It's already a well-known gukbap place around Mapo and Gongdeok 👍

Inside, there are seats for 1–2 people up to tables for 4, and it's spacious, with more than 15 tables. It's good for a group of friends and also for a team lunch with coworkers.

Bosseung Hoegwan menu and gukbap prices

Gukbap (rice soup) menu

The mains are suyuk gukbap (boiled pork rice soup) and sundae gukbap (blood sausage rice soup), and a bowl costs about ₩11,000–13,000. There's also pork bone soup, hangover ramyeon and samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) for people who don't eat gukbap, so it's easy to come as a group. Each bowl was generous, and it felt like great value 👍

Anju (drinking snacks) menu

There are plenty of anju too, including gopchang jeongol (beef intestine hot pot) and head meat suyuk. If you like a glass of soju with your gukbap, try Bosseung Hoegwan when you're drinking in Mapo 💗 Every dish looked like something I wanted to try.

Eating solo: the Bosseung Hoegwan sundaeguk set for one

The sundaeguk set for one comes with the soup plus a taster of sundae (Korean blood sausage) and suyuk. I wanted a full belly, so even though I was alone I ordered the great-value set for one. Sundaeguk normally comes with dadaegi (seasoned chili paste) mixed in, but I'm a creamy-white-broth person, so I asked them to leave it out!

The set comes with sundae, head meat and suyuk, so even alone I got to taste everything 😋 One bowl of sundaeguk usually leaves me wanting a little more, so eating this generously was very satisfying, and of course it was super tasty haha.

Sundaeguk loaded with garlic chives on a rainy day..💗 The soup here is packed with ingredients, so I could enjoy both the meat and the sundae to my heart's content.

Is the ₩4,000 myeongtae hoe-muchim (spicy pollock salad) worth adding?

The myeongtae hoe-muchim (spicy seasoned raw pollock) is a ₩4,000 side, and if you want to enjoy your sundaeguk even more, add it! I thought a ₩4,000 portion would be small, but it was big enough for two people, and eaten with the suyuk, the flavor really came alive 🫠

Verdict on Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch

When the rainy season kills your appetite, try Bosseung Hoegwan Mapo Branch! The seasoning soaks in well, the value is great and the menu is varied, so I plan to go back again soon 😉
