Anseong Gongdo café for hot chili sausage danish brunch: Chat Baker

In short

Chat Baker is a two-floor brunch and bakery café on Seodong-daero in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, Gyeonggi. The writer left the kids with her parents and came with her husband, sharing beef brisket cream pasta, salt bread, a hot chili sausage danish (short) and ham cheese toast, and the pasta sauce, made in house, tasted better than expected. With a meal, bread and coffee all in one building, Chat Baker is an easy place to settle in for hours without moving on.

A brunch date for two at Chat Baker in Gongdo, Anseong

For the first time in a while, we dropped the kids off at my parents' place and got to have a proper brunch date, just my husband and me~~ While I was excitedly searching for 'brunch hotspots' to figure out where to go, Chat Baker caught my eye 😍

It's not a standalone building on its own — it's inside a building shared with other shops, so at first I was like, "Wait, is this really it?" haha

Still, we spotted the green entrance and the "chat baker" sign right away, so it wasn't hard to find haha. If you're visiting for the first time, just look for the green entrance in the photo and you should find it easily!

One of the things I liked about Chat Baker was that you can enjoy the bakery and a proper meal in the same place~! It's a great café to visit for an actual meal, not just a quick coffee ♡ Not just a bread shop — brunch too 👏👏

Chat Baker seating: two floors, group tables and floor seats

Honestly, when we went in, I'd assumed it was just a fairly big bakery café, but once inside it turned out to be even bigger and the atmosphere was even better than I expected — I was so, so happy!! The place spans the 1st and 2nd floors, so it's really spacious, and the ceilings are high enough that it never feels cramped.

The 2nd floor especially has unique and varied seating options, which made the atmosphere really nice~~

Variety of seating styles on Chat Baker's 2nd floor

The wide seating looked great for a family visit or a gathering with friends~~

This kind of atmospheric seating also looked like a nice spot to sit alone and just enjoy the mood~~

Naturally, the floor seating tables caught my eye as somewhere great to bring the kids 🤭 When you go to a café with young kids, sitting on regular chairs for a long time can get uncomfortable — but having a floor seating area makes it much easier to stay a while, haha. For families with young kids like mine, just having floor tables like this is a pretty big plus!! I thought it seemed like a good space to comfortably eat brunch and enjoy bread with kids 👍👍

We tried salt bread, hot chili sausage danish (short), and ham cheese toast 😊 The pasta was tastier than I expected, and I was surprised by how generous the amount of beef brisket was! At large-scale cafés, the food can sometimes be pretty ordinary compared to the atmosphere and space, so I didn't have high hopes — but here, apparently they make their own sauces for brunch items like pasta and risotto. Maybe that's why the pasta actually tasted properly good 😋

The bread was genuinely excellent too, no complaints at all!! True to the name Chat Baker, there's a really wide variety of bread. From salt bread to croissants, scones, baguettes, sliced bread, cookies, madeleines, financiers, and more — with so many options, anyone who loves bread will find it hard to just walk past 😆 The bread was so good that even after filling up on pasta, my hand kept reaching for more haha. Since you can have a meal, coffee, and bread all in one place, there's no need to go find a separate café afterward — that's a big advantage of Chat Baker!

On the 2nd floor there's a spot to reheat your own bread, so even if it cooled down, we could warm it back up and enjoy it again!!

Jazz, LPs and live performances at Chat Baker

[Chat Baker: spacious and full of atmosphere] More than anything, what stuck with me was the café's atmosphere. Rather than the typical bare, empty feel of a large café, each space had a slightly different mood, which made it fun just to look around, and overall it felt clean yet emotionally warm ♡

The space is decorated around a jazz and LP concept, and there were actually live performances happening~!

There were live jazz performances scheduled for September too. You can book online, so it seemed like it would be really romantic to come for an anniversary 🤗 Chat Baker didn't feel like a bakery you just drop by to grab bread — more like a café you want to settle into for a while, eating good food~~!!

The whole cakes looked so pretty that I decided I'd definitely have to order one for Christmas haha

Parking is fairly spacious, and it's also pretty close to Anseong Farmland and Anseong Starfield, so it seems like a good stop before or after an outing~!

It wasn't just a large café with a nice atmosphere — the pasta was tasty and the bread was delicious too, so overall we were really satisfied. Next time I want to try other pasta dishes and take home a few kinds of bread! If you're looking for a large café in Anseong where you can enjoy brunch and bakery items all at once, I'd recommend Chat Baker.
