Western restaurant in Cheomdan, Gwangju: spicy pesce pasta at MooDoo

MooDoo (무두) Cheomdan branch is famous as a pasta spot in Cheomdan. It's not just pasta, though. It's also well known as a wood-fired pizza place in Gwangju.

MooDoo Cheomdan location and hours

MooDoo Cheomdan is on the 2nd floor of Yastech Tower, 5 Cheomdangangbyeon-ro 87beon-gil, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and it's open daily 11:00-22:00. Break time is 15:00-17:00, and parking is available.

Where do you park at MooDoo Cheomdan?

Park in the Yastech Tower underground lot, and they give you 3 hours free~ Just make sure you pay at the restaurant and tell them your plate number on the way out❗️ That's plenty of time, and the lot had loads of empty spaces, haha.

MooDoo Cheomdan reservations and waiting

You can reserve ahead through Naver Reservation. There's also an event for Naver bookings: write a review and get 2 free drinks! For dinner, the event gives you 2 highballs. Definitely join in 🤍

If you didn't book, there may be a wait, and you can join the waitlist on the Tabling app. We reserved for noon on a weekend, and there was a waiting line after us..! Still, the table turnover isn't bad!

Inside MooDoo Cheomdan and the seating

There were more tables inside than I expected✨ With tables from 3 people up to 8, it's great for dates, friend get-togethers, wedding invitation meetups and other group gatherings. The big windows also let you look outside while you eat, so the mood was nice too, haha.

When you book on Naver like this, they set aside a reserved seat for you, so we sat right down without waiting, haha.

Is it okay to bring kids?

MooDoo Cheomdan has several high chairs and baby chairs, and lots of families were there with kids. It's a good spot for a moms' group meetup with the little ones!

The table comes set with water and cups, plates, a fork, spoon, knife, wet wipes and tissues.

If you need more tissues or wet wipes, grab them from here, and there are even blankets for anyone who feels cold. So thoughtful 🤍

MooDoo Cheomdan menu

True to a top Cheomdan restaurant, the menu is hugely varied. It starts with basic brunch, and the wood-fired pizzas include margherita, prosciutto fig, arugula, jambon, apple gorgonzola and truffle mushroom. As you'd expect from a Gwangju wood-fired pizza favorite, that's just the pizza section!!

• Pasta: oil pasta, pesce pasta, seafood pasta, puttanesca, squid ink pasta, black pepper white ragu pasta, carbonara
• Risotto and rice: steak galbi cream risotto, porcini mushroom risotto, steak bibimbap (rice bowl with mixed toppings)
• Others: salad, eggs in hell, steak, french fries
• Drinks: Americano, latte, ade, fruit tea and more (draft beer 1+1 and glass wine 1+1 events running)

What I ordered: the steak galbi cream risotto, the pesce pasta and the brunch soufflé pancake.

Why I highly recommend the steak galbi cream risotto

MooDoo Cheomdan's steak galbi cream risotto is a cream risotto topped with steak grilled in galbi (Korean marinated short rib) sauce. There's a ton of galbi and bacon, but it's chopped small, so it's easy for young kids to eat too.

There were lots of garlic flakes, and the cream sauce wasn't heavy at all, so it was really delicious...!! ⭐️Highly recommend⭐️ I'd order it again next time. Definitely get it!

How spicy is the pesce pasta?

MooDoo Cheomdan's pesce pasta is a spicy pasta with lots of different seafood. The heat was mild enough that even someone who can't handle spice could eat it, but it might be spicy for kids.

It has a shrimp this big, and it's seriously huge! I think it's my first time seeing such a big shrimp in pasta?! There are also 4 smaller shrimp in there, haha.

There are several mussels too, and they're enormous...!!!! Can you see the size? They were so chewy and delicious, T_T

The pesce pasta feels like a hangover-cure pasta, and it went especially well with the galbi cream risotto. The combination of cream and spicy pasta was the best 🤍 The noodle portion is just right and the sauce was really good. It's a flavor I keep thinking about,,,

What's in the brunch soufflé pancake plate

The MooDoo Cheomdan brunch comes with a soufflé pancake, potatoes, sausage and even a jambon salad, a generous spread. It's perfect for a Cheomdan brunch date too.

When you cut the soufflé pancake with a knife, it slices so fluffily and it was super soft 🥹 Perfect for kids to eat too!

The sauces are fig jam sauce, ketchup, butter and maple syrup. Spread whatever you like~~ With pancakes, it's maple all the way~~

The sausage had a smoky flavor and was plump and full of juice.

Piling the jambon salad on the pancake is insanely good! The jambon salad is really delicious,,,

Three dishes for two: how it went

Two of us ordered three dishes at MooDoo Cheomdan and ate until we were stuffed🤍 It's good for brunch as well as pasta, and the risotto was so delicious too. A great place for family, friends, dates and get-togethers. Next time I have to come for the wood-fired pizza🤍
